I am not looking for complete drum machines, I want something Like drumaxx "single-pad" version to use along Live drum racks. I want to have one instance per pad so I can tweak the sound from push easily.

ANy ideas?

if there isn't something like that apart form drumaxx, which simple synth, with few parameters would to recommend for designing percussion?

If you got M4L there are quite a few that came with suite, and some more on maxforlive.com.
Besides that, in vst, I can only think of the various kick synths. Oh! And those guys that made a hihat and clap synth... I'll report back when I think of the name :)

EDIT: Audiothing makes those of course!

There's Stacker: https://www.samplemagic.com/details/606/stacker
I've not tried it, but it combines a drum synth and stacked samples (which you don't have to use if you just want the synth) in a single voice drum VSTi

If you have maxforlive there's the 13 free drum synths included in Max Essentials 2.

In fact I came looking after trying the ones included with max4live, theyuse too much CPU for how they sound.

Does softube modular uses less CPU if I just load a couple of modules? I was thinking maybe I could load heartbeat individual modules along an envelope and lfo.

If you have reaktor , you can download my ensemble , it's pretty good .( microtonic clone +extras )

You could mute the parts (less cpu ).
Don't change the number of voices ( 10 ) as these are the voices for the partial editor .
I also made a version with only one part ( for personal use ) .

If you don't have reaktor , ignore this post

the synths in the 'chaos oscillator' thread produce a lot of (black) or entirely (angle) atonal partials, with scads of timbral variation possibilities or absolute recall. i'll be uploading the 1.0 of these two in a day or so with lots of percussion presets (even good hats and a good kick). stereo output to boot. they are currently my go to for quasi-emulative percussion synthesis.

and i would always, always recommend trying stoooner if you use resynthesis.

Ephemere by InEar Display is pretty good for the price, and easy on CPU. The Time & Timbre M4L instrument has a cool sequencer but, I'm not too impressed by the sound. The Softube Heartbeat drum module is on sale right now, and while it isn't particularly cheap ($92US), it sure does sound good! It's not super easy on the CPU either. I have a feeling I'll be using it to make loops, or my own samples with at some point

Ephemere looks good. The audio demos are impressive. Thanks for the heads up ... I'll have to demo it now. I also have Time & Timbre, but haven't used it on any tracks as yet.

Chromaphone would be similar to Drumaxx.

But if you only want a single voice per instance, why not just use a standard synth? All you really need is something with good envelopes and modulation.

Edit: aside from emulating the specific sounds of classic drum machines, all a typical drum synth buys you is the ability to easily collect a set of different sounds in one place, and a dedicated sequencer. For the most part, there is no special sauce there which a traditional synth can't handle. (Ignoring edge cases such as the TR-808 cowbell.)

I just uploaded a monophonic version of clone-tonic ( 10 voices are still necesarry for the partial editor)
