I think you've helped me discover the problem. As you mentioned, the VTS3 plug will load and run but no presets. I looked at the situation in my other DAWS and now realize that the installer will only install the VST3 version of the plug.

So I guess I'm screwed.

Perhaps if I purchased the upgrade to version 2 I could get it to work?

Does that have a VST2 version?

Have you tried renaming it?

That didn't work. The plug loads but all I can seem to find is the VST3 version.

I could swear that at one point, if I used the thumbnails in Waveform, I saw both versions? Now only VST3.

Thanks for your help aMUSEd - you've helped me many times before.

Perhaps a complete uninstall and reinstall... run as administrator... who knows. I'll call Steiney but that will probably be a waste of time!

I think the problem with a lot of plugins these days, is that even many of the VST2 versions don't use the fxb/fxp standard. They go out of their way to use their own internal patch management systems. This is frustrating for anybody that just wants to audition patches without clicking the mouse. There should be a set standard way that can be applied from either the DAW or mapped from a keyboard controller to at least increment/decrement the presets.

That would be perfect. Or perhaps a shell or container that could house ANY plug in ANY format and deliver the presets to the end user in a near transparent fashion.

Is anyone else else unable to load Waves instruments? I have Grand Rhapsody, Electric 88, and Electric 200, all recent releases from Waves. They load fine in Reaper. They show in the scan in Waveform, but fail to load when I put them in the plugin strip. Waves effects load fine. I'm running Win7x64, with WaveShell 9.9.1.

Most other instruments load fine, except V-Station, which crashes Waveform. I think I read that this is a known problem. No big deal, as I rarely open it anyhow.

I've spent an hour or so trying to sort this out, updating Waves Central, etc. Not trying to get anyone to troubleshoot for me, just trying to find out if it's a known brokenness in Waveform before I continue trouble-shooting any more myself. Thanks!

I have found that Waveform requires a bit more "hands on" than some other DAWs do, to keep up with the moving target of your plugin folders.

Under "Scanning and Sorting" definitely remove any plugins whose files no longer exist. Or manually remove those that you know do not work.

I have found a few occasions where I have updated a plugin, but the entry in the Waveform list reflects the older version, which will no longer load.

If you scan and see two entries for the plugin, remove the old one from the list. The "Updated" column shows the date the plugins were updated. That is helpful for pruning the list. :)

One version can be vst3 the other version could be vst2.4

I understand that, but assuming that you are seeing two versions of the same VST2, or VST3 (clearly listed in the plugin browser), that is not good.

All I can see is the vst3 version of the plug-in waveform I can't get the presets to load so I want to have access to the vst2 point for version so that I can get the presets to load

Assuming that you have installed the VST2 and know the folder path, just add that to the scan folders list and scan.

Once you have scanned via the "Scanning and Sorting" in Settings > Plugins, you can simply uncheck the item in the "show" column (for example, the VST3) for the one you don't wish to see in the insert plugins list.

Exactly - I can't find the folder where they are located. Where are they installed on your computer?
