I like the first half of this.
I'm feeling a little London Grammar in this tune in the first half.

The second half is not really my cup of tea though, so won't comment on it :)

acoustic piano is supposed to be dynamic. when it is compressed and made loud it loses it's charm and beauty.
HW SYNTHS [KORG T2EX - AKAI AX80 - YAMAHA SY77 - ENSONIQ VFX]
HW MODULES [OBi M1000 - ROLAND MKS-50 - ROLAND JV880 - KURZ 1000PX]
SW [CHARLATAN - OBXD - OXE - ELEKTRO - MICROTERA - M1 - SURGE - RMiV]
DAW [ENERGY XT2/1U RACK WINXP / MAUDIO 1010LT PCI]

its not something that i would relase professional in this form. but not coz of the piano sound. the whole mix is too raw in my ears. its a quick demo to capture the idea. thats why i call it demo zone^^
so its not about sounddesign and quallity...just well...the melody ^^
my idea was that i release some...lets call it...b side material mostly without vocals during this year until i finish my first record and start releasing the first singles you know.

But beside the fact that its a demo i disagree with you. it depends on the personal taste of the composer and the intention. for example alot of nine inch nails music also has acoustic piano and its very compressed too coz it fits to the song and feel.
me personally i would never generalize it how an acoustic instrument should sound.sometimes its fine to compress like this am made it upfront and kinda cold/less dynamic.
