Ello all, here's a decent track I done made with Renoise, Reaktor, Oatmeal, and samples from the Methlab Dembreakznpadztho sample pack. And lots of DSPs. I'm so used to it now any creases mastering wise are going to be hard to iron out, but it's certainly my best produced track to date. Curious what you guys think :hyper:

I liked it in a weird way. Maybe it could be expanded some.

Thanks for listening :) I was planning on adding a little more to it, but I'm so happy with each individual instrument and the arrangement I'm afraid it'll lose some of it's charm. I'll give it another go maybe.

I'm curious what speakers / headphones you listened through and if there were any uncomfortable frequencies at high volumes. My in ear's (AKGs, came with my phone) I had to reduce 4k quite a lot before it was comfortable to listen to, think it's the hat in the main drum kit, but it sounds just fine through my other hardware.

My first thought (after listening to it 3 or 4 times) is that you seem to have a verse/chorus structure here, so I think it would be quite feasible to extend this, so I guess I'm in agreement with fastlanephil. I didn't hear any "uncomfortable" sounds, but there is a hissy/breathy sound (almost like a closing hi-hat) that begins at 0:21, just before the second line of the vocals, that I feel is obscuring the vocals a little. Maybe the volume of this could be brought down a little. I'm listening on Rokit 5s, but I don't have the volume turned up 'cos it's quite late here. I like the synth part after the verse at 0:50 (sounds a little like a guitar), which reminds me of the rhythm backing on Zappa's Purple Haze.

Good work :)

i'm going to elaborate on the seismic1 observation ...
there is room for improvement on the mix ratio between the vocals
and the instrumental , and it is most likely a frequency oriented problem ...

just as an experiment , i would roll of the highs : first at 10,000 , and take a listen .
perhaps another listen rolling off at 7500 ...
opinions will vary here , and my ears get fatigued quickly
by an abundance of high frequencies ...
a third listen could be worth it after introducing a de-esser .
you should hear a difference in the vocal masking ...

then , perhaps a little volume adjustment w/ the vocals ...

the track is pretty good .
i liked it ...

the entire mix needs an overhaul.

I rejiggered the mix (not quite overhauled it) and made a stupid video to go along with it.
