Simpler does not do multisamples or velocity splits so is very limited and pretty basic. Sampler costs 99E (or you have to buy Suite which is several hundred more than Bitwig). The sample in Bitwig does do multisampes etc so is more closer to sampler than simpler, you just don’t have to pay 99E extra to get it!

In addition to TAL Sampler (which is great), there is also Nuance - which is easy to use, fairly powerful and a big plus for me is that it can load SFZ files. In version 2 it will be able to save them too.

Bitwig's sampler needs time stretching, slicing and better loop control. Everything else - envelopes, filtering, etc. - can be added via modulators or device nesting.

Once those are in, it should be better than Simpler, but slightly less powerful than Sampler.

For now, it's just inadequate.

Of course if you have Kontakt, Halion, Falcon etc you already have a vastly more powerful sampler and will probably never use in built offerings unless it is part of a 'rack' creation to do something weird. I have just started using the sampler in Studio One again as it now actually samples! neat trick

Why there are no question marks or commas in your post? Focus on proper use of punctuation, because I had to read it 3 times to get it... :P

I previously had little interest in Sampler in Bitwig... but once they added the Voice Stacking and how easy it is to modulate per stacked voice, I'll use the Bitwig Sampler all the time once they improve it a bit.

I'd love to see the timestretch added. Also loop fades. I'd also like to see the Phase-4 filter added to it (you cannot do per voice filtering with the modulators) along with the feedback and per voice gain from Phase-4 filter.

At that point, Bitwig Sampler would be my favorite sampler for sound design.

It still boggles my mind how both DAWs targeting mainly the electronic music producers are missing this very basic feature, that all the other linear DAWs have had for years...
+1 The one main reason I'm still using FL Studio.

FL midi and some of it's general workflow is amazing. The program is bloated with too many unnecessary stuff though.Easy to do mistakes and weird ways to do some basic stuff.
It is already popular but if they streamline it and give it a modern face with some audio love, it would be hard to beat.

Recently found out Bitwig Sampler supports Round Robin and is super easy to set up. In Ableton you can only create round robins with a imo cumbersome workaround

Now that you've resurrected the topic from the grave, it's worth pointing out Bitwig's Sampler is a whole other beast now with granular & wavetable modes and stunning multi-sample capabilities. Still doesn't time-strech the samples (granular mode isn't good enough replacement) or have slicing mode, though:

I won't even mention Grid. I'll let Bitwig do the talking :D

Bitwig Sampler has become a powerful tool and since the Grid has the Sampler as a Grid module it’s a very creative sound design tool

I agree, I dont normally us the built in instruments ion DAWS but Bitwig sampler/WT synth is now extremely powerful and amazing with the grid...if you just want to play back realistic trombone multi-samples with key switch etc then go for Kontakt/Falcon or whatever, but if you want top do fun, original and creative sample manipulation Bitwigs sampler would be my go-to tool.

Dropping Serum WT's in top BW Sampler is great fun and it sounds surprisingly close to Serum!

Bitwig’s Sampler is my go to.

The voice stacking is so powerful and so easy to use in Bitwig. Nothing else like it.
Modulation is endless.
Fully MPE capable.
Then once you start using the Sampler Grid module, you can FM stuff, use multiple per voice filters, put an envelope follower on the sample output to control the speed of an LFO or an endless array of other cool stuff.
