I noticed it's a bit calm on the synth front. ;) Not many announcements about new stuff, not many threads about "Wow me, i need another synth!!", and, overall, the market seems a bit saturated. What do you think? Or, what are you waiting for, or interested in, which may be coming out soon-ish?

FWIW, i'm looking forward to demo'ing Dune 3, when it comes out. Interested to see what Synapse will make out of it.

Zebra 3 and Synthmaster 3. I'm also interested in seeing what Massive X will be like.

Totally forgot about that one. Maybe it will be THE synth indeed. You know, the one we're all waiting for. The one synth to rule them all. To find them, to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them. And all that.

Dune3 definitely. Most probably I'm still won't be convinced by the sound but I'm still curious to try it. Also I'm interested in that Hive "wavetable" thing. Of course I'm waiting for Zebra 3 as much as everyone else but I don't think it will happen this or even next year. Cypher2 is sort of interesting.

But yes, it seems that we have reached the market saturation point. I think new developments are mostly going to be updates and improvements of what we already have, or some highly specialized/niche stuff but I highly doubt a new synth will come out of the blue and suddenly become as popular as Spire or Serum.
I hate incomplete sentences because they ...

As far as actually announced products are concerned:
Zebra 3
Dune 3
Synthmaster 3
Massive X (assuming it actually is a new synth, I hope it is)

Same applies to me. But then, i'm still in the market for a synth which can actually import wavetables, or lets you create your own wavetables, so, it surely is interesting, if wavetable is implemented well.

I guess you mean wavetable creation? DUNE 2 supports wavetable import. I’m excited to see a nice new larger GUI, hopefully a patch browser, and who knows what other features. DUNE 2 already had great filters and effects.

I'm also watching the horizon for any updated dedicated FM synths of the FM8 type, but none announced yet.

I'm not a sound designer - more a preset-tweaker - so I tend to treat every single soft synth as a new soundbank to expand my options. Having recently picked up Thorn (at a steal of a price, I might add), and being pretty content with a bunch of others, it's just hard for me to get excited about new instruments these days.

I'm pretty interested in Dune 3, and Zebra 3 (is that even an actual thing?), but other than those two... nothing else really blows my skirt up. The Omnisphere update is lame as far as I'm concerned, and I sold my license anyway. Can't think of any others.
