Couple things off the top of my head.

I’d appreciate a UI that fits more controls into fewer pages, and does away with all the “zooming” (the little magnifying glasses that take you to detail views for individual sections). It’s tedious going into and out of those views. Some of the graphics are looking pretty old and dated too, such as the effect racks.

I don’t want to rate presets. A simple star will do. I either like a patch or don’t, and don’t want to think about how much I like one relative to others. A single star would also make it easier to filter by favorites. Currently you can only do that by sorting because they’re ratings, which means you can’t browse favorites in alphabetical order.

Definitely. I'd just like to see RMX updated before Omni 3. Yes, there's always room for improvement in Omni, but it's fine as is for me and I'd really just rather see the new RMX (that integrates into Omni a la Trilian, of course).

Since Eric Persing is a sound designer and synthesist, it's no wonder percussion tools apparently aren't at the top of his list of things to develop. If RMX is incorporated into Omnisphere, it would get updates forcing it to stay relevant.

Not for me I prefer to have ratings - they help me sort sounds better than just a binary like would - especially when there’s lots to sort

If you just want 2 choices then just use 1 star or 0

Agreed. I make good use of the 5 star system.

3 to 5 are all what I'd call "useful" sounds, where 3 marks bread and butter, 4 is excellent and interesting and 5 is my "this sound inspires a new song" category. 2 stars is "meh/could be useful" and 1 star is "never play again/trash".

Yeah that works fine, but I'd still like a way to filter by rating. If I want to go through favorite presets in random order, it's currently impossible because the only way to get a list of favorites is to sort by rating.

One wish: keep all the sounds but rewrite the software code

I wish Spectrasonics would level the volumes across the patches. I'm so sick of calling up a patch and having it blast me in my ears then call up another one and I can barely hear it.
It just happened again and it reminded me of this tread. :x

Yeah that's pretty much how I use it too

I hated it when Apple deprecated star ratings in iTunes for the dumbed down love/don't love system.

OK fine, a filter would be a good idea, but please don't take away ratings (could even have filtering rules like 'don't show sounds with a rating of 0')

Another thing (which BManic's post indicates) is that having a graded rating system enables you to keep track of sounds you have already rated so you know the ones you haven't sorted yet. In such a huge library this is essential. So this is why giving a 1 rating for a bad sound is always better than simply not rating it at all. It shows you have given it your attention. You can't do that with a binary system.

Yeah, that would be even better, and if it did support filters like that, I might actually use ratings. I use the full five star scale in iTunes in the way you described (where 0 means I just haven't decided), and have smart playlists based on those ratings.

A modern-looking interface with drag & drop modulation.
Faster loading presets/samples. I can open a Kontakt library in an instant but when selecting a preset in Keyscape it takes 20 seconds for the instrument to be loaded fully.

When you say "modern-looking", I take it you mean 'flat, shit, impossible to see what is and isn't a button so you have to mouse over every part of the interface and gradually learn what should be obvious if it was designed properly (i.e. if it was skeumorphic, which it is now!), and also light grey text on a white background, they could use the new slogan "So light, it's almost white!".

Or better still, have a totally white background with nothing on it, and your mouse pointer acts as a tiny 'torch' which displays only, say, a 30 pixel diameter circle through which you can see that part of the interface. Imagine how 'clean', and 'modern' that would be!

Or they could hide all the controls of the interface until you actually mouse over them, like Applied Acoustics did with the preset 'Next/Previous' arrows in Lounge Lizard. What a f**king act of genius that was - making you move your mouse up to an EMPTY SPACE and then having to wait for the arrows to appear so that you can THEN click on one, because after all, having two 'next/previous' arrows permanently displayed would have been 'clutter' and obviously a bad idea.... LOL.

There is nothing wrong with Omnisphere's current interface. The effects also look really good too.

Yeah I know. Of all the things to get upset over.

My view hasn't really changed. More refinements / optimisations are always welcome, but they can all happen in 2.x. Still don't feel any need for a big jump to a v3.

Stylus RMX, on the other hand - I still like it but I'd WEEP for v2 or new rhythm-based product.
