Bitwig Studio 2.4 has an interesting new sampler:

The Bitwig Studio Sampler combined with all the modulation posibilities is simply brilliant! The new ParSeq-8 and NoteCounter are very helpful modulators.

I am not realy sure I kin ow what you mean, Parseq-8 its a 'parameter' modulation sequencer, great for CV and for turning knobs on your VSTs like filter etc. so you would normaly have it on a track with a VST synth or a CV out or a MIDI out tooll to a hardware synth.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Can you give an example of how this would be useful? Becasue even IF Parseq-8 was triggering notes, it would still have to exist on a track, where the instruments sits.

Besides, you can use native Bitwig devices like Arpeggiator, Note Echo, Multi-Note, Diatonic Transposer, etc. to output notes, but even then they need some input to go off of, for example a root note to generate a chord or arpeggio sequence, which would have to be provided in a MIDI clip or from a MIDI controller. In both cases there needs to exist a track where those effects would be located.

In Proppellerhead Reason i can use different sequencer for jam. Without create a note which is set on sustain. I like this for jamming.

Well, you worded your question wrong, because in Reason when you drag a synth into a Rack it will create MIDI track for it in Sequencer. You can then attach an arp like RPG-8, Matrix, Kompulsion, etc. to drive it without MIDI clips. Thus you can't run a synth in Reason without MIDI track as well :P

I'm not aware of a way to generate notes in Bitwig without any initial input from the MIDI clip or controller :(

Hi

Having previously demoed Bitwig at V2 (or below) and getting nowhere in a hurry (read: I found it somewhat obtuse) I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I managed to get up and running with V2.4.

FWIW my usual test for a new DAW is how straightforward it is to create a Midi clip and load a VSTI to said track (and get playing).

It amazes me that such a simple procedure as this is an almost no go in some DAW's, a bit like an urban legend!

I may purchase.

Yes you can!
Gotta be crafty about it and use the buildinhg blocks to create something bigger.
Test tone->Replacer is key here.

Depends of what you are trying. I usually only generate notes to make the 4-stage modulator tick in the rhythm I want. A steps modulator is perfect for that and I don't even need to switch the os ;)

Do you mean like back-and-forth? Haven't noticed that so far.

Sure you can:

Ok, you got me. But you had to delete the MIDI sequencer track, surely? Because they're created automatically when you insert a synth.

Also, I really don't understand how does it matter - in Bitwig one doesn't have Rack to put their devices in. They're put on a track, so can't have any device - even external hardware one - without a track. HOWEVER, unlike in Reason, one can HIDE the track if it annoys them for some reason.

Yeah, beats me. I guess if you want to draw comparisons, Bitwig ties everything you can do to a track, whereas Reason ties (almost) everything you can do to the Rack.

Anyway, I was just teasing you. Sort of. :)
