Simple functional ambient music and sounds for my early-morning taiji. Made with a variety of modules in VCV Rack.
Comments welcome, as always.
Best regards,

My Feedback
Music - 8.5
Instruments - 9
Performance - 8.5
Mix - 9
Overall - 8.75
Comments: Interesting ambient track? Birds? Done with VCV? I'm ready to bite the bullet and install this thing. How do you actually use it in your DAW since it's not a VST? Is there some kind of bridge you have to install? Anyway, enjoyed listening to this. Nice and relaxing and a bit unnerving at the same time. Hard to pull that off so kudos. Definitely like the sound of VCV.

Hey Mr. Wagtunes, thank you for your rating, you're very generous. I've been listening to it over again, I'd probably give it an overall 4.5.
I use it as a standalone production environment. However, there is an unofficial VST version called VeeSeeVSTRack, see this thread for more information:Comments: Interesting ambient track? Birds? No, but there is also a VCV Bridge VST plugin that allows some communication between a standalone instance and your DAW. I haven't yet tested it extensively so can't comment on its efficiency. Is there some kind of bridge you have to install?

Again my thanks. The 35-minute version is what I use for taiji practice, I like the zone it creates, but I find there's too much activity, I'd pare it down by at least half. You are right, there is a little menace in there, like in an otherwise serene jungle or dark forest. At any rate, I learned some things from this one that I'll use again in future patches.Anyway, enjoyed listening to this. Nice and relaxing and a bit unnerving at the same time. Hard to pull that off so kudos. Definitely like the sound of VCV.
And I agree re: the sound of Rack, its audio quality is pretty darned good.

This seems to be less passive as an ambient piece than your last generative patch, but that's probably ok here, especially as you seem to be using it as an accompaniment to a physical activity. Quite possibly active ambience. The bass does seem to infer some rhythmic involvement. There are some nice sounds coming from that VCV.
Good work

Thanks, seismic, I appreciate your ears and commentary. You're correct, it's a functional piece of sound and works pretty nicely that way for my purposes. But as a listening piece I think it's not so good. No fear, I have a new thing coming up soon, something more like a composition.seismic1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 12:59 am This seems to be less passive as an ambient piece than your last generative patch, but that's probably ok here, especially as you seem to be using it as an accompaniment to a physical activity. Again, my thanks for your attention.

VCV Rack is very cool for a software emulation. I have had a bit of a play with it and made some bleeps. Your track is great. Fabulous sounds and an interesting flow to it. I really like the bass. What module did you use for it?

Greetings !

Thank you very much. VCV Rack is incredible fun for me, even after a year of using it I'm learning new things about it, along with new ways of working with it.
That's the Befaco EvenVCO piped through a Vult Tangents filter (which is, we are told, a Steiner-Parker filter design). It's my go-to bass machine on the Rack.I really like the bass. What module did you use for it?

@JerGoetz - Thank you !
@kmonkey - I'm glad you enjoyed the piece, and thanks for checking out my channel too. DS2 is one of my more "popular" pieces, if you're interested there's a slightly different version available at:

The only difference is the ending, but it's quite a difference there.
