Hi,

a new track that I put together:

https://soundcloud.com/sxop/fennec-fox

It's a short track (2:43min) written in G phrygian scale with a solid 128 BPM.

My goal was to create something dance-electro-like that has a little exotic touch.

What's your opinion about the technical and creative aspects?
How's the mixing between kick & bass?
Is the lead too sharp?
Any frequency fighting that pops into your ears?
...?

Thx for listening and have a great day!

My Feedback

Music - 9
Instruments - 9.5
Performance - 10
Mix - 9.5

Overall - 9.5

Comments: Well, it had me boppin my head so it works on that level. Like all the twists and turns in this one. A little skitso but it works for me. All in all, I enjoyed listening to it.

despite not peaking with a rubber duck squeak on that intro riser and
that sidechain compression crap coloring the sound, i liked it.

I'm amazed, many thanks you liked it wagtunes! :)
Definitely a little skitso, you're right. The creativity was getting too much out of hand.
Will try to get this more straight for my next tracks.
Thx for your time!

Yupp, sidechain is critical piece of sound design where I often receive comments.
Perhaps next time I can make it less obvious with sidechaining only the low freq range.
Great you liked it and thx for your feedback, layzer!

Not the usual style I listen to, but I liked the energy :)

I would say...
It's creative but not overly original.
Technically, it's competent (mix etc).
+1 about the compression though.
The lead sounds okay, perhaps a little loud.
The number of stops and rolls disturb the flow/groove for me.

Good production quality. Which DAW are you using?
High Quality Soundsets for Lush-101 | Hive | Electra 2 | Diversion | Halion | Largo | Rapid | Dune II | Thorn | and more.

Yayy :) Sorry bout the starts/stops, but I had to!
About compression: I tried to put everywhere in the processing pipeline just a little compression and then if possible only parallel compression. On the master I applied a dynamic eq that I found gave me better results than a typical multiband compressor.
And for the creative part: you're right, now that I listen to the finished track with more objective distance, I find the melodies not catchy enough.

Thx Touch The Universe for your fdbck! (It really takes time to write your name...)
My first tracks I created with FL Studio, but I switched to Ableton for my recent tracks.
It just fits better to my workflow and is not such a hazzle when it comes to quickly setting up automations.
