This is a really fun effect with a huge palette of sounds! The degree of control over the tone and character of the early "twang" element is great: exactly what I was hoping for. In playing around so far just trying to emulate different recordings, I'm finding that the variety of character available in the extended reverb tail is somewhat more limited by comparison (though certainly much more flexible than in any given hardware spring unit); there's a thicker, washier quality to the decay of some classic dub spring reverbs that I haven't been able to reproduce yet. However, pairing Twangström on a send with another reverb on a parallel send does the trick; Twangström handles the springiness beautifully and dynamically, and you can augment it with a more diffuse tail from something like VVV. Tons of fun.

Which recordings are you trying to recreate? I'm on the look for "classic" spring sounds in recordings.btw wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 3:50 pm This is a really fun effect with a huge palette of sounds! The GUI is absolutely awesome. Huge praise to whoever designed and created the GUI.
Downloading the beta now to see if this will change my opinion of Spring Reverbs.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

As far as dub reggae goes, it's a signature part of the genre's sound, so check out anybody's top ten list... King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown is a great album if you need somewhere to start, but it's on literally almost every record

Question for the team: the coupling control, which is now an on/off switch, was formerly a knob as shown in the recent newsletter. Was the plan always for it to be on/off and that was simply a stand-in graphical element for the switch, or was control previously continuous as the old GUI suggests? I'd be curious to hear it at 50%, given the significant difference between on and off.

I agree with you on both points.
Basti did an excellent job on this.
This is a first

Great sound variety, interface invites usage, without clutter or confusion.
preset thang(strom) works fine, the gui colors and contrasts are fine,
all kinds of fun rumbles and feedback sounds without kicking the tires,
subtleties and extremes in easy reach...the filter and drive are candy
Thanks Abique, for having the linux version up and running already
Cheers

I really like it. The interface makes sense; knobs are arranged well; tonal options are versatile and easy to access; there's an appropriate amount of internal modulation. Also, the resource hit is pretty low (< 1% CPU, ~55MiB per instance).
In general, I'm not a fan of audacious sounding reverbs/effects. Yet, here, even at extreme settings, I'm finding Twangstrom to be very musical. Seems I can span from very transparent, subtle, body-thickening sounds to fat, saturated stuff that howls! Again, the tonal control is great; they laid this area out very well.
However, an area of mystery to me yet is the 'spring model section.' Things like "Tension", "Density" and "Coupling" I'm still getting used to--this plus each of the models.
I too want to thank abique for getting a linux build to us on day 1 of public beta!!![Thumbs Up! :tu:](./images/smilies/icon_thumbsup.gif)

[SUGGESTIONS]
1-Is there a way for the Plug to detect wether it has been placed on return bus or as insert to accomodate the Mix knob accordingly? Or duplicate presets and split in two categories Aux / Insert?
2-Will the modulation targets be animated eventually? that would be usefull.

If you right-click the Mix knob, you can lock it at insert or send level.Matjoe wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 1:10 am [SUGGESTIONS]![]()
