Could really use some help with the mixing of this track
Does it sound too messy to you? Too many elements? I've heard it so many times I honestly can't tell at all, I thought it was the best track in the world a month ago but now I have no idea what to do with it haha. Unbiased advice would be very welcome

Re: Could really use some help with the mixing of this track
Hi
That's a nice track indeed.
Not messy at all
Very nice feel in it
As always i think there is too much compression on drums but it is not about you - i really do think that in all productions in general so again, my opinioin might not be relevant at all.
now ... about what you once thought ...
humans are very specials beings regarding that ego thing but, i know this is how they train people in tv shows and record labels like the ones we have since a few decades : "you're the best" and all that stupid creapy shit for complete idiots.
So ... i can guess you are very young if i look at your pic on soundcloud and can't help thinking of what that guy once said "im not young enought to know everything"
There always will be better than you ...us ... so this might be one of some kind of starting point to our way to humility.

Re: Could really use some help with the mixing of this track
It's a clear and rather uncluttered mix in all.
The snare drum sounds like it's inside a tiny box hidden away from the rest, though.
Maybe that's exactly the idea but it's unexpectedly small sounding.

Re: Could really use some help with the mixing of this track
I think this is really good. Enojyed it from start to finish.
Regarding mixing: the higher frequency reverse what-ever-it-is which is first heard at 0:46 can be a bit distracting after a while. Its in that "presence" sibilence range. I would lose that element after a short while, or use it sparingly.
I love the vocal elements.
The rhythmic element which is at 1:38 is very cool, but when its at the same time as the vocals it can be a bit too much (2m55 - 3m00)
But, overall, really liked it.

Re: Could really use some help with the mixing of this track
Overall it's a nice track with good vibes and alot of fidelity it has a nice top end sparkle to it.
The first 46 seconds I'm thinking this is sweet, then the drop just fumbles itself in. Need to fix that drop, it sounds off beat almost, but the thing holding back the drop and the entire track is that kick drum. That kick drum sounds like it's being held down by 27 angry elves.
The easiest way to fix it would probably be to sidechain the kick to the rest of the track but that may change the entire groove. So I would add a transient shaper and if you're using a limiter try different settings. Saturation and distortion on the kick and snare will help. Also multi band is an option to boost the kick more while taming the mids.
Whatever you got to get that kick to pop more.

My Feedback
Music - 9
Instruments - 8
Performance - 9
Mix - 9.5
Overall - 8.875
Comments: Alan Parsons. Nailed it. Not sure if it was intentional. I agree about the snare. It's like almost not there. But it doesn't detract terribly from the overall piece. At least not for me. The kick, not so bad to me. Yeah, both could use some help. All in all, mix sounds fine. It's clear. There's enough going on that it's not boring. Drums are definitely the weakest part.
PS - Please fix that abrupt cutoff at the end. Terrible sounding. I didn't take off points from it because it's easy enough to fix. Just let the track die out naturally. Maybe 2 to 3 seconds at the end.

Re: Could really use some help with the mixing of this track
snare needs a little more "bite" imho
all else is good.
track, i don't really see a need to make the kick any more pronounced.

not sure about that, unless its a hardcore, dance floor killer

Re: Could really use some help with the mixing of this track
Good stuff! Sounds a little like Ital Tek or Bola.
Maybe the kick could hit harder, but I'm not a huge fan of those genres that insist the kick is the most important thing, so to me it was fine.
