This thread is for questions, feedback and sharing ideas for MSF devices and presets. Of course people that aren’t designing can comment, but IMO its best if this is focused on designs/presets and not bug reports, feature requests, etc.

I’m hoping people will share some of their designs and people will give feedback(if requested). Using other people’s ideas might allow faster design,fewer bugs ,less frustration and better presets.

I’ll try to post something I’ve been working on later. If you want to share please do so and if you have a question about designing something, feel free to ask. Let’s have fun.

Excellent idea. Not being a sound designer, I hope to catch on with some concepts and techniques to in turn make the most of MSF presets adaptation for songs.

This is a great idea - I was thinking about proposing something like this just a couple of days ago. I have a suggestion though. This could easily grow into something unwieldy in no time and be of marginal value. It would be great if someone with moderator authority could establish a protected curated thread that was Best of MSoundFactory Design Thread.

Another of our regulars here recently proposed a sub-forum devoted to something along these lines. I think a dedicated thread would be more realistically achievable. An alternative to a curated thread would be an extract of Best-of posts in a downloadable document. There's a lot of collective wisdom in the heads of a number of experts. It would be really great to make it accessible to all comers.

dmbaer - great idea, that would be really helpful. I don't have anyway to do that, but I hope someone else that does have that power will do it.

Anyway I've been working on about 4 devices at the same time, but this one is perhaps the simplest and almost complete. Its a simple electric piano(s). I tried to get them to sound like real EPs as much as possible, but of course that's somewhat impossible. What I am happy with is the fact that they do sound EP like and it doesn't sound like a typical yamaha DX electric piano. I tried to get some different sounds out of the various models and also have fx that fit the sound. Please play with the different models, amp(push the button), modulation fx, etc.

1). Does it sound good?
2). Are there too many/few models (should I change the names?)
3). Does it feel good? (keyboard player question)
4). Should I use more color coding for the generator or leave it as is?

Well yes,it plays good. Only thing I noticed: the lower voices sound a little bit weak - but maybe it is a matter of taste. Another thing I noticed: there are some ultra low frequencies, which might be not that good, maybe. You can kill them with the inbuild EQ, yes, but maybe you could eliminate them for the "dry" sound already? I am not sure, maybe these ultra low frequencies are wanted after all?

Thanks for the feedback. I added a HP filter under the hood to get rid of some of the bass and added a little color coding. The bass rumbling should be gone and I hope it looks a little better. I'm still not sure about the colors. I'll try to add more models, but I don't know how much more I can do, but if I can I will. Here is the new version

Om the right side under “A/B” there is an icon that looks like a clipboard. That is paste. After you copy the code click that.

I've turned the panel on, but can't hear any difference no matter what I insert/select/adjust; obviously missing something here…

David - Thanks. I’m glad the video was helpful.

As for the fx, do you mean in my device or just in general. Are you using the edit screen or the easy screen? Make sure the output of the generator lane matches where you put your fx. If the generator outputs to lane 2, but you put fx on lane 4 you won’t hear any fx.
