My Feedback

Music - 8.5
Instruments - 9
Performance - 9
Mix - 7.5

Overall - 8.5

Comments: Mix a little muddy. Rhodes is too dry and centered. Musically, interesting only because it's a bit odd. Various instruments help. But Rhodes doesn't quite fit. A little tweaking and it should be fine. Maybe take out some of the low mids. All in all, not bad. Certainly not boring. I like all the changes and where it keeps going from one thing to the next.

PS - Sorry you're not getting many listens. It's par for the course for this sub forum.

wagtunes, thanks for feedback. I'm trying to become the best producer out there, so every feedback is valuable. Even if don't know how fix an issue right away. :)

2others: How would you define the genre then?
There're two points:
1. I've heard a lot of tracks "officially" marked as trance, but from my point of view are not much of a trance.
2. Presence of word "trance" in tags and titles automatically gain the play count in several times. :D

i'm no genre expert, but i always associate psytrance wit thet monotonous,
unchanging 16th note bassline at a breakneck tempo.
i think Wickfut would agree as would most people.
i added descriptions like "Native American" to my track titles
because they had some indian chanting samples in them,
the genre experts got bent out of shape because the rest
of the music did not adhere to REAL Native American music...
so now i just call it Retro Electro or simply electro.

Pretty much Psytrance :

https://soundcloud.com/paraform-psytran ... -psytrance

IE. steady 4/4 beat. 16th note rolling bassline, Funny noises, sweeps, whooshes, not very melodic or euphoric but has energy which carries the track forward.

Trance/hard trance :

Similar but with more of a tune/chord progression. Big feel good breaks. Very eurphoric.

Progressive trance :

A mix between the two. Not so much melodic but still can do an emotional response with the progression.

Without being too much of a cliché, trance music is for when you're off your tree feel good music. It's designed to press the right buttons to trigger an emotional response, which is why a lot of moody orchestral type chord progressions are used. If you haven't been completely off your face in the middle of a dark and dingy club with just a stroble light and some lasers for illumination then you're doing it all wrong.

Back to your track... I'm not sure what I'd categorise yours track in. It's a mish mash of everything. It's like what early Gong would do if you give them a sampler.
