Things don't always happen on the timetable of our expectations....be patient. Kind of a middle of the road piece...maybe urban/country. Yeah I know that's a oxymoron.

Head bobbing at :15 ...mind warped by :30. Vocals didn't do it for me at first but then I got into the melody and message...then could hear a cool tonal quality there. Feels like if you added a bit of reverb/chorus they'd get a bit more sparkle.

Thank you. I hear you about the vocals...I was kind of struggling with them.

I actually thought your vocals fit the track quite well, especially when you focus on the rhythmic aspects and essentially just rap. The background has enough melody that you can get away with a less melodic and more spoken delivery here.

I like those synths in the background, they complement the guitar very nicely.

Back to your tune. It's not perfect by any means but it has a lot of charm and honesty to it which goes a long way to overcoming any production/mixing flaws in my book. As a singer I'd probably suggest having one more go at doing the vocals (I know, I know..it's a bloody hassle, hard work!) because there are a few places where the timing is slightly off, and given the delivery is very rhythmic it is quite noticeable. I'd love to hear this with some geetar, and of course pedal steel...
