Simon the Magpie posed last week what if we created a new genre called #microwavemusic using samples of microwave ovens while running to make drones, and their beeps for melodic ideas. Oh and in keeping with the idea of micro we record small sounds or asmr material. It sounded like such a batshit idea I had to give it a try. Here's my contribution to the budding genre.

My Feedback

Music - ???
Instruments - ???
Performance - ???
Mix - 9

Overall - ???

Comments: Okay, that was different. lol. I may have to critique this on the Vurt scale. Is this an actual genre now? Is it getting popular, catching on? Any big artists yet? Just curious. Anyway, the mix is pretty good. Now I just have to figure out what I just listened to. lol

conceptually a re-fresh of early residents efforts , sans
the timbre enforced by the equipment available at that time ...
had a chance at carving a toehold for minimalism , but sort of overstayed
your welcome , and got a little busy ...

critique over , it's a bold effort , for which you should be commended ;
i would look forward to hearing further efforts from you ...

I think it's meant tongue in cheek as a response to attaching wave to anything and calling it a new genre. And what defines a genre anyway? What instruments, timbres, and rhythms? Why can't they just be made up bs?

So the lead harmonic element is the ding of my microwave key press. There are maybe 4 channels of the drone sound of the microwave running including the bass. Two samples from vinyl, the drone half time beat and the polyphonic singing run through freeware in Garageband. I used argotlunar, frohmage, roboverb, and TX16WX.

Wow. Thank you so much. To be compared to The Residents is a huge complement. I haven't listened to much of their work but am aware of the shadow cast.

I agree I got a little long winded. Somewhere around the second "ring" to second "sing." I've only been doing this for three months or so and this is my 5th largely finished tune. The editorial bit and arranging are what I'm looking to polish so your feedback is most welcomed.

I devoured a microwaveable lasagne to this song and it was the best readymeal I’ve had in a while. Thanks DJ Gray!

Ah yes. Hi, Vurt. Nice to meet you. Seems you have a rep for being unhinged in the same ways I am. I appreciate you giving it a listen. Now would you kindly point out the other madmen in the group who get off on noise?
