Yeah, I'm on mac so I use MIDI Monitor.
A bigger problem would be that I don't yet have a Hydrasynth :ud:
lol that'd hamper things.

Yeah I just tried it myself, went in to System Setup page 6 of 12 and there are two settings Param TX and Param RX and set both to CC, then moved all the various controls and they all output CCs.

Filter 1
The Cutoff knob defaults to outputting CC:Brightness (#4A)
Resonance outputs as CC:Harmonic Content (#47)
Drive = CC #32
Env1 = CC #36
LFO1 = CC #34

Filter 2
Cutoff = CC #37
Resonance = CC #38
Drive = CC #39
Env1 = CC #3D
LFO1 = CC #3B

----

Actually to be comprehensive there are also three Arp knobs on the standard model that produce 0..127 CC data

Ratchet = CC #6D
Chance = CC #6E
Gate = CC #6B

Just FYI, those CCs are listed in Hex format, so for example, #4A would correspond with cc74 in decimal format. That is the standard CC for filter cutoff. #47 would correspond with cc71 the standard CC for brightness/timbre.

You can configure MIDI Ox to display data in decimal format by opening the 'Options' menu, going to 'Data Display', then uncheck the 'Monitor Input: Hex'.

Post

Oh sorry, I tend to work in hex format so forget not everyone does. That was what the # hash symbol was supposed to represent.
Not that it matters too much, the guy who was asking doesn't even own a Hydrasynth to map them on.

Yeah, no slight intended! I just figured that the info would be generally useful to folks who aren't used to seeing CCs in hex format. I also mostly work with MIDI in hex, but I know that most are used to seeing CCs in decimal.

Delux arrived today. Initial report at https://gearspace.com/board/showpost.ph ... tcount=201

LoL, I was complaining in this thread about the sound, and now I got the hydra.
Probably my standards are low.

lol which one did you buy?

desktop. not polished as the virus or nord sound wise, but I can get a lot of useful sounds from it,
just need to work harder.
for this price, unbeatable.

Yeah, same one I got. I wish there was a firmware that allows you to run 2 hydrasynths and layer them like on a Deluxe because I'd also like one of little Explorer models to play on the couch.
I do similar with a Minilogue XD and it's amazing how many patches you can design when you're chilled out and pretty much horizontal. :)

If you have 2 separate hardware units that 'firmware' is called 'the samé midi channel' and works with every MIDI device (that you can change the channel of ;). On the couch you'd need some wireless MIDI though.

Yeah, but I meant being able to create or use Deluxe presets rather than having to create separate presets on both machines. Wireless MIDI I have though thanks to picking up a pair of Yamaha MD-BT01 units.Also, my ‘studio’ is my lounge and the couch is less than ten feet from my MIDI interface.

My god! People still work in hexadecimal?
Self flagellation is quicker and easier if you want to impose pain on yourself.

I suppose you could make it even more difficult for yourselves and do it in sysex.

Getting back on topic - I never payed any attention to Hydrasynth whatsoever in the past - just went straight past it because of so much digital stuff in it. But I watched a few demos having seen this thread and...bloody hell it packs an awful lot in dunnit? The GUI is very very well thought out - looks so intuitive to edit. In fact I'd go as far as saying that's the best page-diving editing I've ever seen on any synth. Love the way it does mod matrix, love the way it accesses the routings for osc, filter, env etc. Having seen how intuitive it is for programming...makes me wonder why so many other hw companies manage to make such a meal out of their more simple GUIs. I like the way Korg put effort into their programming and GUI but this lot are on a different level. Just very very impressed with how it's programmed.

If they put VCFs in there, I'd buy it immediately. It's probably one of the synths I least want that I also most want. All the demos I've seen I really quite like the raw osc sound and the huge variation it has, but when the filters get to work...it loses me. Very impressive synth though. :clap:

Post

I actually think the digital filters are one of its strengths due to the sheer number of options you get.
