I dig the module idea, I gotta look for some unprocessed demo. Passed through that effect stack anything will sound about the same...

Here is the second part, recorded sample played in vcv rack. This Nysthi Simpliciter reminds me of the Octatrack audio machine.

i did something similar a while back with two old walkmans and guitar fx. can be fun if you cover a whole card in tapes going top to bottom, then move the tape head left to right, so from tape to tape rather than along one tape 8)

cool idea for a module though :tu:
nice tune too.

as i dont want it to appear im claiming a genius idea as my own, i got the idea from "handmade electronic music" a book about hacking various household items for the purpose of audio 8)

(Ive got a spare copy of the first edition of that if anyone wants it for the cost of postage...)

when i was clearing out our equipment workshop I found a booklet full of door swipecards with magnetic strips on them. kept them for when I build a magnetophone.

yeah, credit cards and such also give off some pops n clicks, beeps maybe.

it's a great book btw, even if you have no clue about electronics, not all the ideas require knowledge or solder :babd:

how difficult is the module?
could be fun pre supercell
(everything else is)

Should be pretty easy to build. less than 30 parts, mostly resistors and caps, plus a single IC.

There's a tapehead built into the module but an external one on a cable is probably preferable.

yeah the built in one probably requires more of a violin bow tape?

its kind awkward that its vertical though. that's why I grabbed the swipe cards.

does look a little awkward. not too difficult to swap out though.

thx on the book and card tip!
yeah the module is really easy to build. the built-in head is at an awkward position, the knob is too close.
I'm not sure you could swap head to be placed horizontally, as it's mounted to pcb...
