I'm really obsessed with the sound of the opening melody, but I have no clue about sound design, it could be a preset or something but I really hope someone can give some insight for how to create that sound :D :

This is how I'd get the Midi. you can hear strings and maybe some other layer so if you have Kontakt or other VSTs that have all sort of instruments you can just flick through them till you get what you like.

I'm not into CB myself but always liked this tune.

I'm new to sound design so I was more impressed with you dialing in the sound more so than the midi part. Would you say the most important factors was the Oscillator shape and then the filter modulation and ADSR? You got really close to the sound. That was impressive.

well the thing about what I did was more to get the notes.
the sound is very different from what's in the song.
I made it a little plucky because you can hear somewhat of a plucky type sound but a simple sawtooth wave isn't that interesting.

If I were to add unison and detune & spread it would become a bit more interesting but you wouldn't make a song out of it (even though that song is very basic)

There are a LOT of free synths that will give you tons of sounds. Orchestral sounds especially for this type of vibe.

I bought Xpand2 for $1 if I remember correctly a long time ago. I rarely use it but sometimes getting a wide variety of sounds and trying a few gives your track a totally new vibe.

I suck at playing/making chords but feel free to post questions in this forum. A lot of good folks here that are very helpful.

Hey thanks for the video :) , but actually figuring out the melody is the easiest part for me I did it by ear with no problem. It's figuring out the texture of the sound the challenge me, and you came really close to the original sound, but still something's different. There's a lot of reverb and probably a combination of different sounds together that create the final sound...I'm pretty sure they just used a vsti/rompler preset (since that's something quite common in r&b) but I just have no idea which :D

Try something like these:
https://vst4free.com/plugin/2734/
https://vst4free.com/plugin/1090/
https://vst4free.com/plugin/339/
https://vst4free.com/plugin/1891/

I hear more than one layer so use a combination and you can hear the strings at the end on their own

Yeah.. I agree. I was interested in the actual sound rather than the melody and he came really close. It does sound like the sound is layered, so I don't "think" it's a single preset. I could definitely be wrong since a lot of presets in something like Nexus are already layered. Have you asked the folks over on the /r/synthrecipes subreddit? They're pretty good at dialing in sounds.
