So I have spent actual hours going through every sample CD and other sources trying to find the crash cymbal used on beat one of the bar - its from Tone Loc - Funky Cold Media from 1989.

Because it was made in 1989 the crash cym is most likely a sample or a drum machine and I have gone through the usual like the TR 909 and 808 but you gng may hear something I could not.

I cant find it so I thought if anyone could it would be you guys n gals!

In the audio sample the first bar is from the song and the second bar I have removed the guitar as best I could in Spectralayers...

I have just found that I have the CD Single and it has a "Beats" track where the Crash Cymbal can be heard clearly.... It is certainly from a Drum Machine.

It sounds incredibly pitched up. So maybe take another crash that is similar and pitch it up. It also sounds more like a ride cymbal rather than a crash to me. Maybe try layering a ride cymbal with a very quiet crash and adding pitch/eq till you're satisfied

Can't say for sure but it sounds like a medium size cymbal sampled and effects added. Probably 20 inch to 26 inch size cymbal recorded.
