I keep trying, even when I am discouraged because this music-making is really therapeutic I guess. Thanks for listening.

I hope you don't mind me commenting. It's been so dead around here I just needed something to listen to.

Only criticism is it's way too loud. I had to crank my volume down about 3/4 from where I normally keep it. I'd say you probably need to bring this down between 4 and 6 db without actually checking it on my meters.

Other than that, sounds great. Love your voice. I could actually picture this on the radio back in the 60s. Very well done. :tu:

Thanks much, and I think you are right, I too had to crank down my output. The reason this happened is I just tried a new plug I hadn't used in a long time, T-Racks THE ONE mastering all in one plug. That thing just slams the volume and I just trusted it and thought my phones and speakers were too low in volume. I will have to be careful with that or just not use it.

yeah, this sounds very nice with the exception of the mastering.
all the dynamics are gone. this is a chill tune....
and you mastered it like a floor killer dance tune. lol
THE ONE obviously cant distinguish between the two
types of music automatically.

If I didn't come across this on the forum I would just of assumed this is one of the great songs from the 70s I just never heard before. Really professional sounding song. Mastering of course is too loud as already mentioned. Would sound even better with some nice dynamics. My girlfriend just said this sounds nice, so you got her seal of approval as well.

Tried to lower it some and get some of the dynamics back. The wave for looks a bit better for sure. Thanks for the pointers and comments. Here is the remix version

Oh, I enjoyed listening to your song "You'll never know". Particularly good:
Very distinctly sung chorus - it stays in the ear! :tu:

I could imagine that this song would still work with the drums emphasized -
but of course that's a matter of taste.

still sounds very limited and clipped to me. throw that t-racks mastering stuff away.... or get seismic to help you with it. :hihi:
get W1 limiter and use it lightly on the master bus:
http://www.yohng.com/software/w1limit.html
its free and sounds natural with minimal controls.

look here: this is a screen cap of your song stream recorded directly to my wav editor.
comp2.jpg
and this is a screen cap of me comparing a song recorded too limited, top and
one of my songs with mild limiting, bottom.
compare.jpg
see how your song looks like the top one
in this comparison? a slightly compressed song always sounds more natural
and enjoyable to listen to.

Very interesting photos, yes, I do see it. I am obviously pushing these limiters far more than I should. Thanks for this insight. Love it.

Thank you very much. Yeah, I was trying a software drum machine just to see how it sounds and ten added my normal ez drummer with it and didn't add any fills from ez drummer but I could have.

Thanks much.

I listened to the second version.
Great vocals! Sounds very 60s, like others have mentioned, in a good way!
I would like to hear a little guitar doodle somewhere on it...
Well done!

And one last mix, really took layzers comments to heart. Version 2 was still too lous, and when I listened on my ear buds out walking, it seemed too dark as wel, at least a litlle. So I went back and and really cranked down the compression and then barely any limiting at all. It brought the level down and allowed the dynamics more room.

Yeah, I thought about doing some guitar doodling on top. Hmm, I can still bring it back up in the daw and add that, maybe i'll play with that a bit. Layzer, have a look at that wave now. Thanks for your tips/.

Thanks all for listening.
Here is the final.
