Just bought the "old" ethera soundscape 1.2 and i was exploring some of its sounds.
a combination of a pad and a voice was something like an instant inspiration.
Starting from a 8 bar idea I extended the tune and come up with this, stacking instruments from NI komplete
guarnieri violin, strumming guitar, action strikes, mallet flow, arkhis... some of them are just in the backgound to thicken the sound...

the entire project took about 2 hours... and a little refinement of the mix with the addition of some harmonic variations.

hope you like it! :)

Well made, you could do movies. Notice a few times you might benefit from the right smooth limiting to makea contrast in sounds that are close and those darker from a distance for instance.

Thanks a lot, much appreciated!

It's got a definite atmosphere to it...melancholy, nostalgic and epic?

Enjoyed it.

OK, it's only 2 hours work you say...that would explain the slightly 'mushy' mix and various small issues like the flat sound stage and lack of separation between certain layers.

It's got huge potential, but, for me, it's like a rough first draft that now needs refining and developing into a complete piece with extra contrasting sections and a more balanced sound.

Thanks for the suggestions. I listened the mix several times and it's not sounding "so bad" for me! :D
but i take the suggestions carefully!
also, i also think that it has potential and i should add at least an intro, a "break" in the middle and a second part similar to the one already present.
thanks again!

It's not bad at all...far from it, but (for me) just lacked certain small tweaks / refinements that I might expect in such a style of music...

Sound stage seemed a little flat from front to back...maybe everything a tad too reverberant?

I wanted to sculpt it all with EQ to just slightly separate out certain layers and add a little more clarity.

Mix is much clearer for me now...more expansive, warmer, punchier and with each part more easily heard.

I'm sure we could both still find things to tweak, but there comes a point where you just have to stop! :) Having composed arranged, mixed and mastered 7 min and 9 minute full orchestrations over the last month, I get that 100%!!! :scared:

Thanks!
you are right, a mix/composition is never really finished... you can just be more or less satisfied with it! :D
