Really enjoyed it...warm, punchy, driving groove...somehow relaxing and slightly disturbing at the same time.
Frequency content-wise - sounds quite bass heavy for the most part...deliberate I assume?
Maybe a little touch of mid/side processing might've just tidied up that touch of muddiness...the bass seemed quite 'wide'?
Wasn't 100% sure about the wash of sound at around 3 mins - sudden influx of high frequencies that then just fade out again...I thought it was gonna build even more maybe at that point?

Nice thick bass. Personally I'd drop that bass out and put more space in here and there.
I liked the mix, had some dimension to it.

frequency spectrum balance of the mix is far too bass heavy. IMO
good sounds though...
edit: i just read above you saying your music tends to be bass heavy,
thats all well and good for you, but most people find a more
balanced mix more comfortable to listen to, much like
most people are annoyed when the tint on the television
has too much red, green, or blue. where you can say is the
bass, mid and treble in music.

Sounds really nice. Good groove and right vibe.
It might be indeed too bass heavy but to me this sounds like a deliberate choise rather than a mixing error. The mix sounded fine overall.

if you look at the freq spectrum balance you can see it as
well as hear it.
here is a spectrum analysis where i have drawn a thick
yellow line showing how the balance SHOULD be.... with
that much low end, the mids and highs need more volume
to balance the spectrum out.

This is great! A nice rolling dark track. Bass is perfect for the genre I would think. But then, I love heavy bass.
Perhaps some of the stabs could be a touch louder? Just so they are not getting lost. But that's really a subjective thing tbh.
Good stuff!

I understand that this is the genre, make a beat with a bass and some noises and play it for 5 minutes. So I'll ignore the musical composition and just comment on the mix. I agree, a little bass heavy but personally, for whatever reason, I don't mind it because that bass is so damn cool sounding. The breakdown did help a little bit on breaking up the monotony.
I don't think I'll ever develop a taste for this genre. Sorry.

I disagree that the balance "should" be in any way as in the end it is a matter of taste, however I definitely think it is too bass heavy. You mixed on Seinheiser headphones or something ? To me the bass should be like 3 db lower.

oh, so you would be able to enjoy loud music where all you hear is theBulbizarre wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 5:35 pm I disagree that the balance "should" be in any way as in the end it is a matter of taste, however I definitely think it is too bass heavy. bass from the apartment next door? i lived next to someone that
did that once. management evicted him because he wouldnt stop it.
people SHOULD learn that a frequency spectrum balance IS very important. as well as dynamic range when it comes to a mix.
the low end on this song does sound good, but there is just not enough
mids and highs to compliment it, thus the imbalance. that is all i'm pointing out to all you professional techno producers.
