"Train Tracks" is a track from a forthcoming album of (mostly) solo songs on the Chapman Stick. I have been performing this piece at solo shows for several years. The bass and melody Stick parts were performed together in one pass. I added drums and electric piano.

Here is shorter, live version with a little bit of Stevie Wonder's Superstition thrown in the middle:

jcub,
Thank you for the review! Now your studio recording: I dig the electric piano (Wurlitzer or Fender Rhodes?). Reminds me of Jeff Beck (partially because of the keys). And the Stick sounds excellent too. Not sure how you play both parts at once. I like the audio better on the studio recording, but it's cool watching you play. Do you ever play live with pre-recorded drums? I've done that before. :)

Thanks for the kind words! The electric piano is a modeled Rhodes MKII from the Pianoteq plug in. I played both parts at once as in the video but recorded into two separate tracks. The closest I have come to playing live with prerecorded drums/percussion is running a Korg Wavedrum into a looper, setting up a drum loop, and playing over it. I have a somewhat complex looping system set up but need to get much better at it before attempting a live performance.

I love the combination of the Stick and drums. Ever since I heard "Elephant Talk" all those years ago, I have loved its sound, which seems naturally predisposed to funky settings (although it's capable of lots of other things too). This is butt-shaking fun.

Good work :)
