The Space Guitar Synthesizer is being developed as a non-midi polyphonic expressive synth with saw and squaretooth sounds. It has pitchshifting, dynamic polyphonic filtering and modulation.
There is no fixed release date yet, and it is uncertain whether it will be released for all platforms.
Links to the beta for ipad are below.

Space Guitar Synthesizer - *iPad (iOS 12 and up)*
Includes AUv3 version
1) make sure you've installed "testflight" on your ipad.
2) then click on the following link
https://testflight.apple.com/join/gHe6ZWUc

Please mind your ears though: the builtin amp will allways limit the signal, but if you disable the amp, sound might get louder.
I hope the app is inspiring for you, and I am open to suggestions: my main goal was to
1 - keep the thing manageable in terms of numbers of parameters and such
2 - keep the playfeel like a normal guitar as much as possible.
3 - keep CPU reasonably low.
4 - and ofcourse, most important: expand the guitar soundhorizon into deep space!
BETA is provided as is, no warranty is given in any form

Known issues:
- the UI is not 100% finished.
- on iOS there is some instability while used as an AUv3 in AUM.
- the AMP is just an EQ,LIMITER,OVERDRIVE.. So don't expect an ampsim there!
(In my experience such a more clean approach works better with synth sounds anyways.)

You can drop your demolinks/comments at https://www.facebook.com/experimentalPaul

also, please note: Filtersetups and the like are likely to change between betas: it's early in this apps life, a lot can still change.

very nice sounding demo
- how would you describe your pitch to synth conversion?

thanks!
It's a direct poly tracker, which works good enough for the buildin waveforms. A midi output of it wouldn't look that great, but that coincides with the original guitartone's transient being dirty as well.

sounds wonderful({edit}once more, the tone in the demo, i meant)!

-did you have issues with harmonics?

no, there is no hard distinction between root partial and harmonics, so also no problems there..

oh I think I see, so it behaves perhaps like a guitar, where the harmonic content doesn't sound bad

I'll take it for a run today and get back to you here with how it's going

thanks for helping us in this vastly interesting area

this seems to work so nice Paul ty!
- no issues so far, I'll test more

it has tiny little squeals and the amplitude gate flutters when decaying
please share your creation here ==>

if you'd like

I'm finding consistent volume to be a small problem
-the volume seems to swell a little,
I would be happy if there was an option to turn off the dynamics

-is this an open-source project?
I would like to come to understand the pitch-detecting algo intrinsically
I can of course understand if you would rather not disclose
if that's the case, you have a purchaser for your product here in me

tnx for the feedback!
The "amp" has a built-in limiter/compressor with lots of gain, turn the gain down there if you find the sustain to be too wild.
It is not open source, it will be in the appstore for iOS, not sure how to sell the mac/win version.

no worries
- I'll test it some more soon
and try to alter the sustain with the amp

I'm on Windows
preferred copy protection is a method that will be future-proof

ty!

looks a bit like JUCE framework somehow possibly

PD Space Guitar BETA 1.0.8 for Ipad is out!

  • New engine: massively improved picking response and latency.
  • Added Drive waveform, TONE knob controls the amount of spectral overdrive. It morphs your guitar from clean to polyphonic squarewaves.
With Tone set to 0 you basically get a clean pitch shifter ( note: the filter then has nothin to do: the filter only works on the added harmonics!)
  • The Noise knob in the filter section is now way more musical
  • New Detune method is less CPU intensive and much more usefull.
  • Range now lets you limit Space Guitar's frequency band: e.g. if you set it to 52, it will use the signal upto your E on your 4th string.
  • The internal buffersize is now equal to the audio interface/host setting. This will in many cases lead to better CPU performance and less latency. The most CPU intensive are the Cabinet and Reverb, which are stock functions, and not particularly optimised: when using Space Guitar as a plugin, it is therefore recommended to use a bus reverb in your host.
Known Issues:
  • Small ticks in the sound occur when you bend strings. I'll even that out in the next version.
  • Currently the filter noise knob will not work in "drive" mode.
  • I did not yet include example presets for the new Drive Range & Detune options
