I hear some pitch shifting in this one. Definite pitch shifting. It's actually quite obvious, which is I think the first time I ever heard anything in your tracks where I could absolutely say for certain THAT'S what you did. Most of the time it's really so mixed up that it's hard to tell what's going on.
So what did you use for the pitch shifting? Was it done manually or was there some module that did it for you and was automation involved or was it just random or possibly LFO controlled?
Anyway, interesting soundscape. I would have liked the volume to be a few db louder but I guess that's why they invented the volume knob on audio interfaces.

theres 3 layers of pitchshifting on that one channel!wagtunes wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 9:57 pm I hear some pitch shifting in this one. Definite pitch shifting. sequenced/lfo and manual control all happening to a degree.
the main bulk of everything is done with sequencing and lfos, i can only do so much manually with two hands!! but while the modular is doing its bit, ill manually alter for example the pitch centre, or amount of pitch change.
but manually im mostly controlling sample length and repeats time on the second module in the chain, with as i say, odd shifts of other bits.
the only random bits, and random by choice!! are the master clock, which is a random trigger, so timing, although everything is still clocked to that so not truly random :aaarghh!!!: and sample start in the nebulae granular sampler.
nebulae provides the sample pitch shifting (layer 1)
data bender provides a tape stop type pitch shift (layer 2)
then a pitch shifting/harmonising delay over that (layer 3)
sadly, as you know, there are no machines that just do it all for us
they certainly help us get there, but we have to program them to do so!
the volume, totally!
but, i figured its better to have to turn it up, than if something did go "wrong" make my ears turn inside out while im recording
then a spider came in the room and there was no way i was sticking around to master it for the extra 2db
it was huuuuuge!!!!!!
think it was attracted to the really low in the mix wasp line

See, now this is the really cool geeky stuff that I love. You wouldn't happen to have a photo of your setup that you could upload to Imgur or something. Would love to see what your modular looks like. If it's not too much trouble.vurt wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 6:20 pmtheres 3 layers of pitchshifting on that one channel!wagtunes wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 9:57 pm I hear some pitch shifting in this one. PS - After I win the mega millions, I'm getting my own setup

you are in luck, normally, i dismantle patches afterwards, but, due to the giant spider, i was out of here in no time! not sure how much you can get from it, it a bit of a jumble, but gimme a min...wagtunes wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 6:26 pm

Holy crap! That is so cool. Ballpark, what did all that cost you? I'll venture to say $20,000 - $30,000. In pounds, I guess 45-55? I don't know what the conversion factor is currently.

modular grid says around 12k euro, but that would be if i had paid full price for everything. ive been very lucky, i tested for uhe so got one of my cvilization for free, ive participated here in the charity raffle which has saved me at least a 1000 over the years on a good few modules, then lots of decent second hand deals.
so its probably closer to 10k euro id guess.
oh, i guess knock it back up i spent roughly a grand on the cases to put them all in too
im not going to argue its cheap, but its worth it, and as you dont do it all in one go, its not a massive hit! and if you are smart, you can knock up some cool smaller set ups these days.
theres even cases that come with a midi in built in, so you dont need to even use space for sequencing if you dont want. and there are some modules, take nebulae for example, that are basically a raspberry pi computer, while im using it as a granular sampler at the moment, it can be so many more things too. so again, youre getting good use of space and a lot for the money imo.
it doesnt necessarily need a big win, believe me, im far from rich
but i put my disposable income away each month, and every now and then, i will splurge it all. and ill be honest, its so much fun just experimenting with it, and the knowledge that if i take it apart, the patch will probably never be repeated again, is sooooo freeing
some people dont like that, some do. all to be considered before spending of course

I actually like this part. I like making presets but afterwards, eh. It's old. So yeah, the tearing it down and never duplicating it would be a blast for me.and the knowledge that if i take it apart, the patch will probably never be repeated again, is sooooo freeing
Oh well, now that I cleaned the basement (flood from Ida) maybe someday. Though the basement may not be a good idea in retrospect. LOL

no a basement prone to flooding, probably not a good idea.
although, was it a freak event? you guys have been getting some weird weather lately!

We've been here for 32 years and this was our first flood. Yes, very freak weather.
