Not right. You can modulate (or use an MP) to change the value of modulation target assignment parameters in another modulator (e.g. Depth in other than Interval mode, or Max Value in Interval mode). This is a very powerful technique that becomes indispensable once you understand it (and it's actually pretty straightforward).

For example, set a (global) envelope to modulate the Depth parameter (in a global LFO) of whatever an LFO is targeting. Then your LFO strength is modulated by the envelope. Some of this kind of capability is built into the modulation module, but not this particular trick (which would be a lovely enhancement IMO).
Nice post! 👍

Thanks for your reply. I just tried this and Modulator 1 Depth does not appear in my list for Modulator 2's possible assignments. I tried putting Mod.1 into 'other-than-interval-mode' but still no dice. Maybe you can take a look or show us. My screenshot obviously doesn't show all of the assignment pages for Mod.2 but I still don't see the option about which you're speaking.

Thanks

Ok, I see it. One has to enable Assignable parameter ranges in the target Modulator (bottom of Modulator (1) Parameters panel.

In any case, I was thinking that jan-sandhal meant modulation math like in NI's Massive; where you can multiply, add, and other things like you can in the Per-voice modulation matrices in MSF.

I'm attaching a screenshot which shows the checkbox that needs to be enabled for cross-Modulator modulation.

Thanks.

Is it just me or does Advanced Settings/Voicing restart mode/Brutal not restart the envelope at the beginning? It sounds like it's doing the same thing as None. Also, how does Restart (Brutal) make any sense when Restart mode is all about sending the last voice into release mode? I feel like Restart (Brutal) should just be merged into Brutal unless I'm missing something (very possible). Here's the patch I'm using to try this out:

In MSF, the Toolbar Set button seems to level the instrument to K16. Maybe it'd be cool if we could set the target level, such as K20. Thank you.

Enabling Extreme 16x and above, Analog, Oscillator Unison then setting Unison Detune Analog to 10% and attempting to play a note crashes reaper when MSF is in 4x global oversampling.

Set this preset to the next level of quality higher then attempt to play a note. No go for me. Strange because playing an 8-voice chord at 8x shows less than 1% CPU use. Sounds pretty good at 8x tho!

Also, for Oscillator, idk if Constant Beat is broken but I can't seem to get anything but huge spikes out of it. Maybe someone here knows how to use it. Here's a preset that demonstrates it.

Last one for today: I'm not sure how this Filter bypass is working. If you play a chord/note when the filter is bypassed, it won't come on (the effect won't manifest) as its toggled; whether manually or with a global modulator. In contrast, if it's enabled when you play the chord, it'll toggle its effect. In other words, when the light is on when you play something, it won't toggle like it would if you hit the note when the light is off:

Shape is still reversed in Oscillator i.e. 100% is more 'in tune' than -100%. Please see this thread from March 8, 2022:

I'm giving up on this synth for now. It's almost every time I open it, something is not working. I really don't want to be the guy that finds everything wrong with this this; I'd rather do something else.

Post

Been there. It's frustrating putting a lot of energy in to be helpful, not knowing if it's noticed.

I don't find it's so bad, but maybe I don't go into every tiny corner like you seem to do.

I do have a lot of wishes for improvement, but I focus on what I like the most which is the sound quality - especially when I push it towards its sonic limits.
Last I tried MDrummer in MSF (beta), the mixer faders moved in the opposite direction. The values were inverted too. :)

It's the oversampling. If you set it to 1x, the issue is gone. It seems to happen with the pink noise and the stairs generator. The other two are fine.

Although it behaves a little different for me. The first note after I press play is twice as loud and then they stay the same, even with looping.

I wouldn't expect Vojtech to read through a thread like this. You should open a new thread for each bug you find, or send a message to Melda directly. I'm sure he'll appreciate your efforts if you communicate them better.

Post

Interestingly enough, this also happens when I disable MSF's oversampling and enable the new oversampling in REAPER. Looks like the pink noise generator doesn't handle high sample rates correctly.
