I'm already linking to that General MIDI sfz in the sample pack :-)
If you all want to create your own fully CC0 or other public domain license sound set (a subset of the General MIDI pack and/or anything else) and host it on sfzinstruments, I will gladly promote it. Or else I am happy include it in my sample pack, whatever you prefer.

Amazing, thank you very much. Feel free to send a pull request on Github (https://github.com/stargateaudio/stargate-sample-pack), or to discuss the details with me in DMs on Discord:

Weird and niche is great for this project, as long as it's not consuming gigabytes of disk space :-)

Excellent! Yes, please and thank you :-)

It's more of an ongoing process than anything that will ever be "finished".

At the time I created this thread, I curated a small sample pack of drums from Freesound as suggested, to fill the most immediate and universal need, and linked to sfzinstruments from the sample pack (with some guidance on how to find the SFZs that are specifically public domain).

Since then, I have had my hands full working out some post-launch bugs, and creating the MacOS app bundle that will be in this weekend's release (as there was much more demand for MacOS support than I had anticipated). But, I will doing more curating, synthesizing, recording very soon now that the initial launch is settling down.

Those are excellent, I decided to start curating a "teaser" pack from that pack, and link back to the full sample pack:

I hope this format (teaser sample packs to promote full sample packs) can become a great way to promote all of the great CC0 sample packs that are out there, without stepping on their toes by absorbing the entirety of their work.

Ok, cool. I'd like to get some stuff together for this, but time keeps getting away on me. :)

Thanks DSmolken for some great acoustic drum samples, having some fun with them right now, sounds great.

I look forward to hearing everybody's contributions.

Also, took a break from bug fixing to create this using the sample pack:

This is basically the experience that this sample pack was meant to enable. I created a screen share video of working on a dubstep riff, then link to the demo projects repo where users can easily download the full project and tinker with it on their computer, regardless of what kind of computer they have. They only need to install the latest Stargate DAW, no other software required. Very easy, even for absolute beginners without access to the latest PC hardware.

If users also want to share their projects in the same way, they too can download the sample pack and use it in projects that are meant to be shared publicly. It's a powerful way to collaborate and/or share knowledge.
