And while I did include CSound and PureData, I can't say I can easily see what they are specifically either. So I'm requesting a little education about those three?
SchismTracker is a reimagining of a classic MS-DOS tracker (Impulse Tracker, which in turn was an alternative and expanded take on the design decisions made in another classic tracker, Scream Tracker 3), made cross-platform and compatible with modern systems. I included the smiley there because it is so retro :), but I'm sure it can be inspiring to some! (There's also a Fast Tracker II for modern systems, https://16-bits.org/ft2.php , hehe).

PureData is a free environment very much related to Max(/MSP), by the original Max developer. Google both and check whether it's your cuppa tea.

CSound also harkens back to the time when these modern DAWs of ours were still sci-fi; it's a classic computer music / sound generation and manipulation toolset with its own programming language and deep libraries of things to try if the approach itself inspires you (the same goes for PureData as well). There are also front-ends like CsoundQt that make experimenting with it a lot more immediate: https://csoundqt.github.io

All three are... I guess pretty dang oldskool approaches these days, in a historical perspective, on that ad hoc list of mine. Acquired tastes and so on :D, but interesting!

However, I left off the Russian Company for now in case it's a sensitive issue for anyone. (Warmplace).

It might be interesting to see what others have complied from this list that they currently have on their system and opinions of them.

My curent is BitWig 16T and Mixbus for DAWs. Modarrt Pianoteq. All the u-He synths plus Colour Copy Presswerk, Twangstrom. Tracktion Biotek2, F.'em, and MOK Waverazor. AudioDamage Dubstation2 and Other Desert Cities. Argonaut Atlas 2.

What I've been using most has been Bitwig- Modarrt, Zebra 2, Bazille, Biotek2 with Dubstation2 and Presswerk.
I gave you most of those back on page 1, but you probably didn't even look at the URL to the list I sent you.

Edit: And I'm from the USA and I don't see any problem with listing the Russian developers. They are normal people just like you and I. They have no say or even control over what Putin chooses to do or not do. In fact, the sanctions will almost certainly hurt the Russian people more than "Putin and the Oligarchs" (hey, that's a good name for a punk or ska band!) :)
I also don't have any problem with them personally. (Also in US.) I have a line of products that are from a NFR company that I still regularly download updates from. (In fact, in the last week or so.) I've actually had more problems from certain NATO countries that servers get weird during 'social unrest'. But the times being what they are and KVR members being what they are, I'm thinking it best to hold off for now. If the usual offended profiles take off on this as something to jump on for their personal brain chemistry high, I'll add it before admins see the whole thread needs to be locked. 8)

Understood. :)
C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. Company gone-can’t authorize. Limit to # of auths. Instability-ie PACE. Forced internet auths. THE HONEST ARE HASSLED, NOT THE PIRATES.

Here is another one that is a bit of an "outlier" : http://ajaxsoundstudio.com/software/cecilia/

Win and Mac binaries available directly on the page, and Linux ones are potentially present in the selections of package managers (at least there are deb packages readily available for multiple Debian based distros).

Couple more instruments:

Audiothing is in the process of porting everything over to Linux. There are several plugins already available that support all three OSes already. :)

Added LMMS, Audiothing and the remaining Nakst.

If those making suggestions could include the link to those suggestions it helps greatly.

Thanks to everyone!

Okay, I think I've got it updated to the given suggestions. Let me know if I've forgotten anything or placed it in the list wrong (as I had Helm, instead of Tytel Helm.) Also, I understand that while anyone can search most sites by OS, they simply list all and include/exclude by those filters and don't necessarily do what we're doing here. Which is specifically only list what can be used on all three.

A metaphor I regularly think of here is the old west saddle tramp that owned their own tack but went through many horses. Being able to use plugins on any system available (as long as it still lives and can meet the requirements of them.) Like a horse, it's always best to know when it should be retired or it's died, and not try to beat it because we liked its branding. So IMO, the applications are ultimately more important than the OS we run them on.
