forgot to mention, in the picture above, notice the articulation is not using any notes for the articulation, just the CC number information. It is still an "articulation" which would be listed for notes in the phrase editor-notes inspector..
With that example, you could assign a note in a melody to be used as a "pick up" note, if you will, using that articulation.
