I rewrote most of the lyrics, partially preserving the theme and imagery from the original. The vocals are multi-tracked; most are just equalized and compressed. One track is the victim of abusive pitch correction and resynthesis. The original is very loud (super limited), especially the chorus. Mine follows suit.

Lyrics:

Code: Select all

You stand there looking out at the fading orange and blue.
A glowing satellite moves across the sky.
Get ready and pack your bags. They've returned to take us all back as vowed.
Hopes raised by an old light that said goodbye.

Hastily the dark consumes the promise, our bond.
A shared vessel for our future we shout out but it burns.

Can you feel?
Can you feel that hybrid rainbow?!
Stranded here alone!
How long until we return to?
Return home

Our prism fractured; our colors confused.
Flightless birds pull out their heads; they're not amused.
What used to be high frequency now irregular opaque barrier.

Redirected, misperceived; all life is dimming.

Can you feel?
Can you feel that hybrid rainbow?!
It used to lead the way.
But now that once bright pole star light abates.

Can you feel?
Can you feel that hybrid rainbow!
No, not yet.
Don't you know that I really care.
I can feel!
I can feel that hybrid rainbow!
Stranded here alone!
How long until we return to?
Return home

I wasn't familiar with the original, but this is an excellent cover. I didn't think that your cover was quite as limited as the original, especially during the chorus.

That band definitely has problems holding onto bass-players.

Good work :)

Thanks. :) In the original, the singer creates a screaming tone in the chorus. I couldn't figure out how to do that without hurting my voice, so I layered vocals to make it sound a bit fuller.

I should have linked the original song in the first post. It is not a super hit, but I really like it.
