I’ve been hoping for such option in u-he synths for quite a while now, convinced that it’ll sound like its own beautiful, unique thing.

Pretty sure this new option will lead to a bunch of new sonic experiments here so I’m over the moon really. As usual, I simply trust your vision and ears Urs ;)

And now I’m going to do some KVR speleology to find that mp3.

As I've been fantasizing about how gloriously sharp it could sound, I got to ask the obvious : now that it's coded, will that new rendering module make the cut to Zebra / Zebralette 3 ? Please ? :hail:
It looks pretty good for this. I can't promise that it'll rival specialised engines like Harmor, Alchemy or Loom though.

Funnily, there was an example mp3 for Hive a few years back before we decided on wavetables. That example was rendered with a predecessor of this Z3 rendering module. People didn't like what the example did back then, so we dropped it. I hope that this new one will be more likeable.
Please take your time!! it's very exciting to hear development updates. It figures that there are some things Z3 won't be 'quite' as refined as when it comes to very specialist roles like the stuff Harmor, Alchemy or Loom can do. But those synths are not quite as versatile as the Zebras either and can't do everything it can

I'm actually prepared to show a glimpse at the curve based editor for 3rd gen Z3 oscillators during Superbooth. I am slightly afraid that it'll keep me from work for a few weeks though, because people will have questions (and some will be afraid it's over their head).

It is a similarly complex piece of software engineering as our preset browser or Bazille's synthesis core, if not the most complex one of all. It currently offers just over 100 tools and settings for what I'd call "Waveform CAD" (rather than "WaveShop", because it isn't sample/pixel based).

Sample import is not yet implemented because another developer is reworking drag'n'drop and copy/paste on another branch. This is shaping up nicely though, and one of my next projects is about dropping .wav files on the curve editor, where - if all goes well - waveforms will be vectorised and ready for further treatments.

In addition there are something in the vicinity of 15 novel and reworked OscFX as of now. These also have individual options so one can get a lot more out of them than what Z2 used to offer, and I feel our work has just begun here.

Exciting times ahead!

(I really have to think about unveiling this though... there'll be endless threads...)

Sounds interesting. Let's see it. 😁

Yep, import of .uhm/.wav wavetables is on my todo list, once the actual waveform editor is finished.

That all sounds exciting! I'm surprised that we'll get a glimpse of it at Superbooth. I figured it was too soon before there would be anything. It might take a few weeks of work, but it will equally be the first announcement to the world that Z3 is in active development. Mr.Zimmer's ears are likely to perk up once he hears about it haha.

Best of luck at Superbooth!
