I don't know how to improve and if someone tries to tell me how they would have done it to make it better, I just feel that it wouldn't be my music anymore. On the contrary, if someone points at something they like, I'll try to push in that direction : because it would be "mine" so I can just push further my own stuff, by focusing on the things that do work.
In even fewer words : I post only positive comments. That's a choice and I believe it makes sense.
Could not have said it better. I do understand where your post comes from (Btw, I rarely ever comment on any of the OSC track).
FWIW, many of the osc tracks of mine (from the past) which did not get any glowing tributes in the comments section (or in terms of OSC rankings, which often hovers in the vicinity of the bottom quarter of the participants) ended up as some of the most played tracks of mine in majority of digital platforms (be it Spotify/YouTube/ or any such medium) with 100s of likes and plenty of positive word of mouth comments.
What I would suggest to (new) OSC participants is don’t get discouraged by negative comments or low ranking points at the end of the competition.
Remember, there’s a bigger world (audience) beyond those who comments or gives points in the OSC, whose tastes my might match with yours.
My main motivation to be part of OSC is to Just enjoy the experience of creating something original with pre-determined limitations (of me as a hobbyist and the competition) and deadlines. (Positive comments and better rankings are nice to have bonuses which are beyond my control)
Cheers!
