1. It’s still in beta, he is one person doing all the coding as a hobby project (not a real paying job), there are bugs still and features he is still working on trying fix and implement when he as the time to work on them. You can report bugs/features through the Github page. The reports with the highest amount votes, he will address first. He recently released a 10 step guide on the priority on how to help him help you and other users with bug reporting/feature requests.

2. As he has continually said, it will be free and always be free moving forward. He is never charging. He is offering the use of his technology to other devs and companies, whether it be software or hardware for them to profit off of, but he himself will never charge for his iterations of the Neural Amp Modeler. This includes users who want to make capture packs and then charge for them.

Again it is still in beta which means it may not work and be stable on everyones system/DAW. I forget the exact reason for it only working at 48khz, something about it being the most common sampling rate most users operate at and it being compatible with video. It’s mainly just him for the most part, and he operates in a very pragmatic way implementing one thing at a time, and trying to fix that if it doesn’t work for some users. And don’t even ask about oversampling…its not needed…please show us the “artifacts” and where they hurt you.

It’s free and your not losing anything by trying it in beta now…there are no promises or guarantees. If it works on your system, great. If it doesn’t, that sucks, and if its a bug that happens all the time that you can recreate, submit through the github page and he will try and address it. For now you’ll just have to wait. With 11K+ users and growing each day, and many big names now on board (Brian Wampler of Wampler Pedals, HW of Tone Junkie, Amagalumaudio, Leon Todd etc. among those), NAM is not going anywhere.

It works and is stable on my very old quadcore pc from 2015, Windows 7 and Ableton Live 11. It’s my goto solution for the best guitar tones i can get in the box right now, and I haven’t even used or thought about using a regular amp sim modeler since the NAM trainer allowed users to make and share profiles.

From Steve Aktinson (the developer):

🔥 Trainer version 0.6.0 is released! 🔥
The link to the Colab trainer is updated on https://www.neuralampmodeler.com/users
Folks training locally, update by running:
pip install --upgrade neural-amp-modeler
Highlights:
* At long last, cab modeling is here! There’s a checkbox in the local GUI trainer and an option in the Colab trainer. Using cab modeling will tweak the training so that the result is better-tailored for the tone of a full rig with a cab.
* There’s a new reamping file! Download v2_0_0.wav (linked in the Colab notebook), and training will be able to do a few sanity checks to catch a bad reamp before spending a bunch of time training. If it’s a little too touchy, you can always either use the v1 reamping file, or choose to ignore the warnings and go for it anyways 🙂
* Local CPU-only training has been improved! I tweaked the parameters to make better use of a typical consumer CPU. Ballpark, you should be able to get a good-sounding NAM model in about 30 minutes without a GPU!
* A little bit of a tweak to the delay compensation calculation should give folks more consistent results.

Here you go!

 (When I tried NAM, I didn’t notice any bad aliasing in the normal range of playing, but evidently, it could benefit from a bit of oversampling.)

I did some sine tone tests, it's pretty bad with aliasing and very much in the audible range.
The aliasing it's worse than even BX PA's old Guitar amp modelers.
Yikes! :-o

Can't get the VST3 plugin to work in ANY of my hosts. It crashes Savi & VSTHost. It loads in Studio One but will not instantiate. It also loads in Cubase but causes that DAW to freeze.
The standalone works, but yes, aliasing and CPU usage still high.

Nevermind....got it figured out. What appears to be the ACTUAL plugin is nothing but a folder with a .vst3 file extension. The REAL plugin is nested in a sub-folder. No wonder my hosts were having problems. Damned silly pack job. :dog:

Here's my NANO NAM model of a Fender Hotrod Deluxe (pushed clean/edge of breakup), it's great for folks with lower powered cpus and NAMpatible hardware devices like Mod Audio / Beebo (soon) / RaspPi etc. . .

Reading that they're working on resampling, does that imply that oversampling doesn't work / doesn't do anything currently? Will it once they add it?

Resampling will just let you use a model while running at a different sample rate than it was trained at.

Drat. Just like every version after 0.7.2 it won't run on any of my computers, regardless of DAW.
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!
