Exactly. If you want a Prophet, get Repro. If you want a workhorse modular 'jack of all trades' type architecture, get Diva instead.midi_transmission wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 3:23 pm I'm very happy having both synth. Never felt that one could replace the other.

Hey guys using latest Ableton/Repro 1-5 with Macbook M1 and they constantly crash every now and then when closing the window or saving preset.
Anyone found a way to make it work without crashes? So annoying it really ruins my workflow.
I re/installed again from the website yet the installer seems to still be the same old version from 2021.
I really hope they came with an 2022/2023 update as I feel like it's no longer up-to-date with Apple's latest specs (hence the crashing on M1s).
We really need this CLAP thing going live with u-he, like yesterday...
Repro is the only plugin crashing out of my 500 others I tested. I think Diva is fine.

Okay I found the issue. I no longer press (x) close window and instead use the Ableton tool button to hide/unhide Repro 1/5.
Problem seems to be gone (I pressed 50 times in a row to double check, so far no crash).
Will report if the problem comes back.
Can't believe u-he didn't fix this simple issue in such a long time, crazy imagine the number of people whose life has been annoyed by this lol

Diva's MS-20 wild and filthy filters want to have a word with you.Urs wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 1:16 pm Repro is based on electronics of synths that have an insane modulation depth - they're not a sweetspot synths per sé even if they have many of those. Diva is very tame in comparison as everything is built around the parameters and modulation depths of a very "tame" sweet spot synth. I think it's fair to say that Diva puts emphasis on the mellow side of analogue whereas Repro has all those harsh, gritty and wild properties.

Now imagine those filters combined with the much greater audio-rate modulation depth ranges of RePro-5. THAT would be extra filthy.himalaya wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 3:32 pmDiva's MS-20 wild and filthy filters want to have a word with you.Urs wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 1:16 pm Repro is based on electronics of synths that have an insane modulation depth - they're not a sweetspot synths per sé even if they have many of those. Are we suggesting a new synth to Urs then?

Nah...just throw it on the list for a DIVA 2 someday. Sounds like it's already something Urs has thought about. Throw in separate Octave, Coarse, and Fine tune knobs with a center value of 64 (currently it's 63) and I'd be thrilled!
Sorry...can't let that last one go whenever anything future-DIVA comes up.

but it's 0-127, so 63 is correct.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 4:10 pmNah...just throw it on the list for a DIVA 2 someday. Sounds like it's already something Urs has thought about. it's not 1-128.

63 is indeed technically correct for the reason you describe: MIDI starts at 0, not 1. But in the real-world, MIDI device and synth manufacturers decided that MIDI knobs with a center detent would transmit values of 64 when centered. Which means Diva is sharp whenever I center the Coarse and Fine Tune MIDI knobs on my System-8.
I understand that you and Urs are clearly better at math than Roland engineers , but I think Diva should be able to conform to the admittedly bizarre choice made by hardware device manufacturers when it comes to it's MIDI learn. Heck, it can be a preference: "center tune value: 63 or 64"! I'd take that. Just do a little transforming behind the scenes when the value is 64 to offset a little.

tbh im ok with basic arithmetic these days, but anything more i seem to have forgotten everything i learned.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 5:31 pmI assure you: being better at math (I'm never adding an s to that ever) than me is no difficult feat. The average 5th grader is better at math than I am.

also, if i start seeing evidence you've started using the s in maths, ill join in helping you get 63 moved to 64.
let's see which of these two is most important to you!!
