It got some positive comments (thanks everyone!), so I beefed it up a bit and created a video to go with it. If anyone would like to see it, here it is: https://youtu.be/_Af_OmL46Vs
That was very enjoyable :) I like how the train running forms the percussion rhythm. Did you do that videoing?

I can see your point about nobody reading #159 now. There is a Discord group you could join where we share stuff like this. Perhaps you could join that?

Or best in Music Café and a link in the OSC thread. It would find a bigger audience…

Perfectly fine to post it here. Very nice. Thanks for sharing. I want to move there btw. It just might happen someday.

A fine selection of hand crafted sound, meticulously detail in mixing, a lucky hand in selecting the most cliche elements, only the best chords, angel like melody lines, ultra precise automation and a very well thought out story the track tells while some parts are just only jamming... just kidding, it's EDM, it's not with brains at all, it's just arbitrary rhythm, arbitrary mixing, arbitrary instrument selection ...

Details

⟃ ~ 2 Cardinal FX

Thanks, I'll try that.

Thanks, glad you liked it.
Vancouver's a nice city. Don't forget to bring your umbrella!

Thanks, I 'found' a video of a trip on the Vancouver Skytrain (there's a surprising number of them) and cut some segments to fit the music, then added effects to hopefully create a slightly surreal mood.
I'm not familiar with Discord, but I'll check it out, thanks.

Looks great. I didn't know what Discord was either. It's just a chat site thing, and there is a room for OSC geeks to chat. It's easier than having a conversation on here. More modern tech! :D

Just a little offtopic ... Lua/Protoplug again. "I compose Code, Therefore I am"
After the Chord Retrigger Code which I have actually used in my 'track' ⟃My Hatred⟄ I started to do a MidiGlider Thing. It works like this: You hold one Note A and press a second note B. My Code will "glide" the distance from A to B by playing all intermediate notes, when you then release B it will glide back to A...
The rough code is already working, check out the attched picture for the result which is the recorded output of the plugin. The source is just 3 notes, the glides are added by the plugin.

One question about the rules: "No use of samples" << however there are several modules inside Cardinal that make use of samples. Is it still allowed to use these?
For drums I'll often put modulations on `SV Modular` drum modules, for instance.
(and then for the ultra pedantic there are wavetable oscillators, I assume those should be fine for sure)

If you would ask me the rational of the "sample rule" is:
a.) leveling the playing field. All participants know and have access to the same tools and resources. It avoids that individuals with access to turbo-porno-premium sample packs have an advantage.
b.) transparency about where the sound is coming from

The sample based drum oscillators are in the synth - leveling is given, everbody can use them ootb.
The sample based drum oscillators samples are fixed given that nobody changes the source and rebuilds them from source. so nobody can put their intergallactic-quality-and-price-tag samples into them and get an advantage ...

I have used them.

Ok ok, just checking. Of course there are also modules that load external samples, and indeed that would not be "level".
There are also modules that can sample from incoming audio, but since this is internal and part of the actual patch, I assume those would be allowed as well.

I only wrote my made up reasoning for the sample rule-in common and the built-in sample-based drum-oscs in the Cardinal case... This rational is why I used them without hesitation. But hey ... it could easily be forbidden ... So please wait for the official statement.

Is there a simple way of recombining a polyphonic signal path so that I can use monophonic effects and such just before the main output?

I have this nice polyphonic synth thing going but I want to add a chorus and perhaps some delay/reverb within cardinal but can't get the non-polyphonic stuff to work.

Haven't looked it up, but try to find something with the keyword "sum", "mix" or "add". Or you place a CardinalFX after your CardinalSynth.
