How many virtual drumkits do you have and actually use?

Hmm. Who knows?
I have: Apple Drummer in Logic. Better than any drum machine I ever used.
My main drum proggy is Addictive Drums 2. I also have EZDrummer 2 and 3, and MODO Drum. IN ADD, I use the Fairfax Cozy Power kit and the Mallet kit.

I have Steven Slate Drums 5 and MODO Drum 1.5 but the CPU hit on MODO is so ridiculous as to make it completely unusable. I hope there will be some updates for it. I have Strike from AIR also which I have had for ages but haven't really looked into. Might give it another shot and see what it can do.
But it's Slate Drums all the way for me. Good sound and low CPU hit.

I USED to hoard a LOT of drum samples and drum kits. Since I recently switched from Battery to Groove Agent...I've learned it's actually much better to build like 15 kits with the BEST SAMPLES I have available and just sound design the samples from there. Pitch shifting kicks. Snares. Changing envelopes...etc.
So many of the samples I have don't sound that great....I THINK I have like 76k samples. Browsing that many hits got old QUICK! Hope this helps!!

I don't have problems with MODO Bass or SampleTank 4 for the most part. But MODO Drum uses a lot of CPU just idling and causes crackles when I make any kind of sound with it. It's always been like that even since version 1.0. I know others have mentioned the high CPU usage also and others who don't seem to have any issues with it at all so I guess it's a system specific problem. It's the only plugin on my system that behaves this way.

Right. Same here. What a dumb idea to cut off access to upgrades after a specific time.JohnPativens wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:48 am At the moment I still use SD2 as my main drum sampler (would upgrade maybe if Toontrack let me).
All they've done is to ensure I will stay with SD2 until it no longer works.
So I have:
SD2 with New York Studios Vol 1 and 2.
Whatever is in Komplete 13 (Abbey Road, Studio Drummer, etc.)
MODO drums 1.5 (came with IK Studio)
Sampletank 4 MAX
DR-008 (remember that one?)
Primarily only use SD2 and occasionally NI Studio Drummer.
Don't care for MODO or the Sampletank offerings.

Pretty dumb, yes! You have to buy EzDrummer 3 (or 2 used) then make the crossgrade path. Or just find someone who would sell a SD3 upgrade separately. I'm gonna stick with SD2 til I can, I'm ok with it.bk wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 8:02 amRight. Same here. How is that NY vol.2 compared to 1?

Addictive Drums - I have all the kits.
then Reason's Kong as a plugin
Also like to use Softube's Heatbeat from time to time...
But mostly, I have a vast collection of sampled drumloops which I like to chop up

I have a gazillion samples from all over and Battery is my main drum sampler. It's just the easiest and most intuitive drum plugin on the market imo. Thats said, I often use drums from my Korg Kronos and/or Roland Integra7. Best of both worlds. I'm looking into getting an analog hardware drum machine though

Sounds very good. Similar high quality to the factory library. Some different drums and two different rooms. More choices.JohnPativens wrote: How is that NY vol.2 compared to 1?

I'm using the Goran Grooves 'Handy Drums' series a lot , they have a lot of round robins which gives a really nice varied sound. The sampled sound is very good and the developer does a good job of updating everything as promised, and making the whole experience very easy to use, eg copy protection, UI, just general ease of use..
You also just buy the kits you want, no core programme needed. Worth checking out I reckon, I really like supporting developers like this who care.
Apart from that EZD3 which I got for the bandmate feature and the MIDI as much as anything.
Ditto XLN Addictive drums which is a good low-CPU option, again, quick and easy.

I'm still working through the factory libraries of my drum samplers, and haven't even explored 97 to 98 % approximately...

I've settled on using the NI drumset's, I've become a big fan of the Abbey Road sets, however I will occasionally use the samples from trigger 2 as I use those when recording real drumset so they sound natural in a mix to me.

I use ezDrummer 3. I just hope the humanize feature could be a little more "dramatic".
i also use Logic Pro X virtual drummer for demo recording.
