What? It's a simple fact, much as nobody is going to be moved to tears by any of the music I/we make. As I said, that's not what it's f**king for.ghettosynth wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 8:46 pmDude, sometimes I wonder if you really are that out of touch, or if it's just comedy. I mean I get it if it is, you are top-notch at staying in character.
Look through the thread and it's obvious that 90% of the songs people have chosen are absolutely made to elicit that kind of response. They don't have to be the greatest songs of all time, they just have to connect with you and, while pretty much none of them would ever get a tearful response from me, for a variety of reasons, I can well understand how they would from a lot of other people. But EDM or EBM? It's simply not going to happen (unless maybe you're off your tits). I think possibly you need lots of melody, not incessant, pounding rhythms.
I used to listen to a Smorgasbord of stuff when I hadn't found the music that really works for me (which is not the kind of music I/we make, because that didn't exist at the time).i need Help wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 11:24 pmlol jk jk, but not only do I produce “EDM”*, I produce and listen to Trance none the less! That’s like being the kid that “the kids who get picked on” pick on lol.
But I do also listen to a Smorgasbord of other stuff on occasion.
Sham 69, The Damned and The Lurkers or that hideous excuse for Punk they made in the US?I listened to mostly Punk music in high school.
Which, I hope, you immediately dismissed as belonging to a different generation. If either of my parents liked a piece of music, it was my bonded duty to despise it. It is every child's duty.as a kid grew up on Pink Floyd/Motley Crue/Guns N’ Roses/other rock in that vein from my dad, Contemporary Christian Music from my Mom
My exposure was far broader than that but it still didn't help. I had everything from Little River Band and Wings to Alice Cooper, Supertramp, Sweet and Rick Wakeman but none of it really connected with me. If you'd asked me at the time, I'd have undoubtedly said I love music and proudly shown you my collection. It was only later I realised that I didn't love that shite at all.So I don’t feel I live in a musical vacuum, but even listening to the above, as I mentioned before, I don’t like get teary-eyed or have a squirt of dopamine in my brain that would make me feel happy or whatever.
No, you got it right, it's all EDM, just as New Model Army and The Eagles are both Rock bands.*Yeah I know EDM ≠ Trance and that there’s 172,028,963,001 different sub-genres of “Electronic Music”
