The given answer by mods and those connected to Presonus is that the forum software was outdated and couldn't be maintained. They didn't just shut it down, they deleted the entire forum and all the information in it. When Cakewalk went bankrupt, using forum software that was much older than Presonus, they just archived it. You can still read that forum and posts that are 20 years old.

Deleting the forum crossed a red line for me. If I can't make sense of what they're doing, why would I trust my future to their software?
Not to mention the valuable resource it was helping people w/ Studio One address issues/set up. Myself included, on several occasions.

I wasn't aware they did that, wow.

Great points, it almost feels as if they wanted to silence all criticism moving forward. I don't like it

I don't have any real interest in the DAW, but I logged in to "My Presonus" (I have bought two audio interfaces from them, using one currently, Quantum ES2. Top notch.) and the site says Studio One Pro 7 "Included with your Studio One Pro+ Membership". I'm reasonably certain I'm not paying them any subscription fee. I did sign up for a free DAW, yes I did. :P
(It was a PITA to install with tons of bundled crap eating space like a motha like Cubase used to do, although in this case it's optional before you install, a lot of things to say no to.)
I bought Quantum HD8 3 days ago. I also found Studio One 7 perpetual license + 1 year of plus membership.

However, it seems like my own Studio One 7 perpetual license -that I paid money on- has merged with the new one, so I don't have two separate licenses, I only have one.

I was planning on selling one of the licenses since I had an extra.

If there would have been official announcement and reason well before the closing the forum (and not deleting the old posts), the thing would be different I think. It wouldn’t feel so sneaky and strange. What I understand is, all the info we now have why the forum was closed is from “I heard someone heard that someone said”… no official announcement beforehand?
The "official announcement" was posted in the support section of the now deleted forum by the mods a little over a week before the closure.

So they deleted the forum with the announcement post announcing that they were deleting forum posts?

Really? I never had any success trying to get any of my issues resolved and then they hid it away where you couldn't find it. I thought they'd canned it a couple of years ago, until Jamcat provided a link to get to it a few weeks ago. Good riddance, I couldn't care less.

Yes, really. By searching key terms and finding fixes in various posts by others. I never posted there myself but it was a good resource for troubleshooting. I couldn't care less what you think about it (though you care enough to post about it apparently.)

The larger point is that it's bit of a dick move imo, you could archive it in some manner easily enough, there's bound to be some things that would prove helpful to current/future S1 users.

Of course they're under no obligation to keep it up, but it sort of forms an overarching theme in my view of the direction they're heading. I'd like to give s17 a spin at some point, just install it parallel to test out their clip launcher, which does look interesting but Cubase's new drumsampler and sequencer appeal to me more i think, although there own forum hasn't proven that helpful, youtube has been the ticket. And with Windows S16 will do the trick for awhile should I fail to crack the wall w/ Cubase.

Call me when StudioOne improves their cpu efficiency, that's the main thing to me. That alone would make me update. Maybe in version 8 but I'm not holding my breath.

I was trying to think of examples just to make sure I'm not talking out of my ass. one was to do w/ render on mixdowns and sample block size. Some automation and fx would not work at certain sizes, and the render prgress window freezing. So that's a big one the forum helped me w/ directly. There were a handful, though.
