Just trying to come up with something different. It’s in the form of a round. A 16 bar melody played by several different instruments, each starting 4 bars after the previous. It’s only a little over two minutes in length. That seemed like enough before it got too boring. Created on an iPad with several apps that I bought for less than lunch money. You get what you pay for.

"The best things in life are free."
It starts out very pretty, but for me, there are no natural dynamics to grab onto emotionally. Your intent is pretty, but the execution is...well...
Honestly, I don't know how people have the patience to program music. My son does it. I've tried, but too tedious for me. Hats off to those with the patience.

Well, you've managed to create a small melodic track with the iPad.
A bit melancholic, thoughtful, calm. Very nice! Maybe you could
make a whole longer song out of it? Maybe on a real DAW? It would
be worth it.

I concur 100%. I didn't put much time into this one. I was experimenting with the "round" form, i.e. row row row your boat, etc. as a way to extend a melody. I probably should have used different instruments for each iteration. Oh well, maybe next time.irpacynot wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 1:14 pm"The best things in life are free."

I don't know how I have the patience, either. Prior to this, my favorite hobby was competitive shooting. Arthritis set in and it began to get painful, so I stopped doing it. It was probably also dangerous. Glad I got out before anything bad happened. Actually, I find the whole music thing to be very relaxing. I love to sit out on my patio with a cold, refreshing adult beverage and create something that resembles music. So far I have created over 300 of these things. I try to do something different each time. Sometimes I make a fool of myself. Other times I come up with some really cool stuff. I have no specific genre. One day it may be laid back easy listening. The next day it might be head banging heavy metal. I just do this for fun. Anyway, thanks for listening!

Thank you. I actually have a real DAW (Cakewalk and Sonar on a very old PC). Also have 5 keyboards, 3 basses, 16 track mixer, a small PA, and many other assorted bits in the spare bedroom. I was a gigging musician for most of my life. In 2004, a life-changing tragedy ended everything and I went dark for about 15 years. A few years ago, my wife told me about people making music with these iPad things, so I decided to give it a try. I liked it! I like the portability of it. I can sit outside on a sunny day and make music. I once sat in a canyon of a local state park and wrote a song. One time, I sat on the upper deck of a Mississippi riverboat and wrote a song. With a conventional "studio" I have to rely on other musicians, schedules, and personal politics. I like this new mobile approach and will probably never go back to the old school. Thanks for listening. Have a good one!

You do get what you pay for, if you paid a scammer you get ripped off. If you want free food then tell them to hook it up. Robots are good for that
