Will there be a notification on here once the fix is ready?

Stupid question, has it been programmed by guys from AudioThing? DSP wise...

Made this very quickly, just a loop - nothing special. Maybe something like this exists already?

Every track has Tapewave on it (some also have Dawn as reverb). Tapewave quite nice, I guess time to buy it for me.

This thing sounds killer. It can do some Zulu-ish stuff, which is rare. It is screaming for a mix knob though, if nothing else for the compression alone.

Man, this is really a gem! Played around with it and found it really useful. Its quite flexible and love the sounds that you can get out of it. Although some minor tweaks that got discussed here already (mix know for example) would still be necessary but nevertheless, its a really great plugin. Chapeau.

For sure with the mix knob, I keep thinking that over and over while using it.

Didn’t Dan WA say he thought a mix central might introduce unwanted sound artefacts on this?

Personally, his promised button to turn off all tape effects sounds fine.

And tbh, I could live without either.

wave alchemy wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2024 2:55 am Possibly in some of the Tape modes when using their Age controls at heavy settings, since Lofi mode especially is adding some subtle movement and fluctuations, along with other effects. I have not tested that thoroughly though.
The mix knob could still be handy with the other controls when the tape section is disabled though. Of course it's not a deal breaker, just a feature request.

And if it's something that they're not sure about, and needs further testing to confirm, something to consider for a future update at least.

I can see adding a dry/wet just to the wow & flutter section for those who insist on using this as a chorus, but for the other stuff it would probably introduce too much weird phase cancellation stuff.

Hopefully before the intro price period is over.

The other stuff it does is mostly compression and distortion. It's extremely common for compression and distortion plugins to have mix knobs, with no phase issues.

Indeed, I do agree :tu:

In case you weren't aware, you can right-click the Hiss button and get some extra options, such as selecting between several levels, locking the off / on state for when browsing presets and applying a noise gate.
Yes I found the gate but unfortunately it's quite poorly implemented. It should track the incoming signal much better to be actually useful. It needs a much more intelligent hold/release to be able to abuse the noise. For instance, if you send a quick synth stab with a short release into the tape, the noise takes a good while to be gated. It'd be MUCH nicer if it tracked the decay and release of things very precisely. Then we could keep the noise at high levels and really give texture to a lot of things.

For ultimate control, with automation, the noise needs to have a simple level control going from -infinity to say +12dB.

EDIT:

Another thing that could be improved is the metering. It would be nice if it could be switched to input metering. This would make it a bit easier to figure out how hard the emulated tape is being hit.

I also wish there was some built in tone controls for changing the frequency response of some of the tapes. For instance I really like the lo-fi tape when I use an external EQ to bring back a lot of the highs.. I don't like it at all in it's default filtered response. Also the 'Age' knob sounds very simplistic and like a very obvious filter. I was hoping for it to be a bit more organic and change a lot of internal things. Maybe it does?? But the filtering is so very obvious and quite poor sounding that if there are other things going on, it definitely doesn't get past that.

Anyhow, overall this is quite useful and due to how the wow and flutter works, it's quite unique sounding. That alone makes this valuable.
