For me it fundamentally comes down to I don't like tweaking the software in real time. I've made plenty of software clones myself over the years of varying degrees of success. As much as I like the 303, I'm not sure that I'm a connoisseur either. I think that I can get what I want out of a 303 in various hardware configurations, but, it's just not convenient. It's like the SH101 in a sense. There's not much unique sonically about the synth, it's just CEM chips and a Roland filter, but the hardware itself is what makes the difference in terms of use. I know folks will disagree but, well, I disagree with those that disagree.foosnark wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 8:58 amAcid V was the last one I tried. I didn't figure I was likely to want to use it in my music anyway, but to me something about it just didn't sound very authentic. Like it's trying but it never really gets there. I'm not a connoisseur though.ghettosynth wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 1:18 am But a 303, no, I f**king don't need that. Don't get me wrong, I love me a 303, but my B.303 gets the job done for me.
What's on your Black Friday radar?

We were talking about poly-pitch bend under the 'MPE' moniker. That is the whole point, MPE encompasses 5 different poly-modulation controllers, not just polyphonic aftertouch which you have fixated on with your Montage M8X. And yes, for me it is a joy to use all five at the same time in real time, as I play, not when editing in a DAW. And it relates to the Arturia DX7 plugin as it can't do it apparently, and a user has remarked that it would be great if it could (going round in circles with this). Perhaps they own this particular plugin from Arturia and they wish for MPE compatibility not wanting to spend more money getting Halion, or anything else. This is not an unreasonable wish if all other Arturia plugins are MPE compatible. All of this should be really easy to understand. /end of this topic.

Does Plasmonic ever go on sale? It's been on my wish list ever since it came out....I kind of missed the boat on this one.

I downloaded the demo and have been using it for the past 4-5 days and I finally see/hear what all the fuss is about. The Standard version and a few expansions are definitely on my BF sale radar now.Download SOphist wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 4:27 pmThe stage version gives you 2 instruments and should be around 100 for Black Friday. Still not cheap, and not customisable but I could live with just the Bosendorfer and the Kawai or Petroff. I rarely take advantage of the pro version extras.cryophonik wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 10:57 amPianoteq has always seemed like a great instrument, but it's pretty expensive and I've already got a bunch of pianos (Kontakt, TruePianos, Keyscape, etc), but that Kawai does sound amazing. Maybe a BF deal will finally push me over the edge.
Sorry for the off topic, guys.
In other BF radar news, it turns out I still hate Cubase as much as I always have (no offense, Cubase users, it was my first DAW and I continue to upgrade it every so often, but it just doesn't jive with me). Somewhat ironically, it prompted me to look elsewhere and I ended up taking advantage of Avid's BF sale and upgraded my Pro Tools instead, which I haven't used in years. I spent the weekend perfecting a vocal tracking/editing template and it's exactly what I wanted.

This looks fantastic for sound design! While I don’t personally need drum plugins, has anyone tried using it with non-percussive material? How well does it handle longer samples?dayjob wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 8:31 amwell, that's nice. black friday sale is ondayjob wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 10:38 pm Very interested in Forever 89 Visco.

I read it "I'm eyeing a super model"! I thought, "Oh that would be very expensive even on BF"!
Using mainly Live 12 suite and Reason 13 on a PC/Win11 and mini Mac/Sequoia.

the demo is unrestricted. you should try it to see if it meets your needs in some way. it does interesting things.enCiphered wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 10:48 amThis looks fantastic for sound design! Yes, that’s exactly what I did. I just finished a 30-minute demo session, testing all kinds of sample mangling I’m interested in, and it’s definitely not performing well for what I had in mind.dayjob wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 1:45 pmthe demo is unrestricted. you should try it to see if it meets your needs in some way. it does interesting things.enCiphered wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 10:48 amThis looks fantastic for sound design! Maybe this time I’ll get Massive X if the deal is below $80 (upgrade)
