I've been waiting for the Black Friday discount for Nexus 4, didn't realize they were releasing Nexus 5. I see the starter pack is $249. What kind of discount do they usually have on sales?

Yes - you can see all the patches in the librarian are from the N5 core library. And there's quite a lot between Mongoy and Muted Multitaps, so it should be fairly substantial.
Good point. I just noticed that on left (of the image) it says 1.1K besides N5 Factory Presets, so over 1000 presets. That's impressive!
Almost suspiciously good! I wondered if it was rolling all the previous presets into one place, but there's no duplicates in that list in my N4.5 install except for Moonlight which is in the Summer Deep Chill expansion that I have no recollection of buying yet there it is. That's a pluck, and the new one is a bell so I think the naming is just co-incidence.

So it does look like 1,100 new presets which is a lot more than previously and sorta worth the upgrade on its own. Something for the preset folks and the true synth nerds - how lovely.

yes that is correct, and from ALL our designers, so it will be quite versatile

How many designers do you have?

I've heard from many folks that the nexus expansions begin to start sounding the same, so perhaps branch out for new designers every once in a while too :tu:

Any chance of making a corner on refx for backlinks to 3rd party libraries as uhe does and other devs. Or better yet, you'd be wise to take heed to reveal sounds sound design management. Now that you opened up Nexus, take the initatiave to grab a cut of 40% of every released library henceforth by having a merchant marketplace on refx where folks can upload libraries where you get in on the cut. Create the hub. Now that people WILL release libraries for it get in early on the action.

You do you though, seeing how long it took to open things up, I'm not sure you guys even care or have any need for a little extra cuts.

I was always interested in Nexus since v2 but never got it because of the copy protection (e-licenser?). Now, I'd like to know what form of copy protection v5 will have and if it's possible to deauthorize?

Also somebody already asked the question but never received an answer. What Nexus can do that Avenger 2 can't (or vice-versa).

Several people asked the same question, but apparently, it's an uncomfortable one.
I thought basically Nexus was 99% sample based with a handful of VA waveforms.

for me, this release is late. I already have enough "supersynths". Last time i grabbed Falcon /for 149/.
In the past I watched Nexus videos on youtube, but those were old versions.
And now i have great plugins and easily layer falcon with avenger in unify,
so seeing a new nexus release , i just shrug my shoulder.
But I agree, this can be a super exciting news for those who still don't have such "supersynths".

I have room in my heart for more synths than just supersynths. I can't see why Nexus would inspire great interest when you have something like Avenger 2. But this is the update I've been waiting almost 20 years for so for me, it's a no-brainer. It will be interesting to see how making your own sounds in N5 will be like.

This is going to open the flood gate on sound design for Nexus. Whether you like it or not, this was and is one of the most popular VSTis to date. I also have and love Avenger2, but this is just awesome the most popular rompler is getting this Massive update to bring in synthesis and the ability to mix match and layer the sounds we’ve grown up to. Really excited to get my hands on it. Great pricing as well.

Ok, in case somebody else would be interested I have answered my first question. No need for e-licenser now and it's possible to deactivate (based on Nexus4). Still wondering about the second question though.

If you're not aware of what Nexus can do, a simple google search can show you. It's basically been used in a ton of modern hit songs, a very popular vst for many years. It was a closed system for many years in terms of user samples, it didn't exist.
This is the first time ever , that the dev's have decided it's finally time to open up Nexus to allow users to use our own samples etc..

Pretty big deal actually, and anyone that's been making modern music in the last 20 years has at some point heard Nexus in hit songs, and or used it to produce with. Avenger is a completely different animal.
The wrong approach would be to compare them, when in fact you'll most likely want and find complete use for having both to produce.

Vsts are cheap compared to buying actual hardware expensive analog and digital synths. What reFX does masterfully is sample their gear ( you might want to research their synth line up ). To be blunt, you won't find a much better synth selection anywhere. Moral of the story, get both Nexus 5 and Avenger 2 ! :tu:
