Hi,
I finally have a “new” computer.
All these years I didn’t upgrade the firmware, because my old mac couldn’t read the installer file.
Now with my brand new m4 mac mini, I tried updating the firmware on my Linnstrument.
But no luck, it keeps saying it can’t retrieve the settings, and updating is aborted.

If I recall you do need to set the Linnstrument to accept the update.
Take a look through documentation, it's been so long since I updated mine.
Ah yes just looked at mine, it's the Global settings, go to Actions, and of course Update OS. And of course you need to do this before you start the update on your computer.

I did all of that, the installer only responds when update OS is active. As soon as i activate that, i can see the installer react, by having the update buttons active. I’m sure I’m doing everything right. Everything unplugged, etc.
I tried doing the sequencer retrieve, but that doesn’t work either. It shows the save screen, but after naming and executing, I get the same message that it can’t retrieve anything.

Sorry about the problem. Please see the LinnStrument FAQ page, Problems tab, 2nd FAQ:

“ LinnStrument will not accept an OS Update from the LinnStrument Updater app. What's wrong?”

If the suggestions there don’t help, email me at the support address with
1) a short video showing the Updater’s messages,
2) the result of each of the suggestions in the FAQ, and
3) your name and your serial number.
This info will help me understand the problem and the solution.
