My daughter turned me on to this group. Don't know too much about them, but love the compositions and vocals, and the synth work is phenomenal. Really unusual and innovative stuff. Wonder what's being used for the synths. Kind of sounds like a lot of original emulations of "found sounds". Anybody familiar with this group?

Same producers as Bjork for the most part, and like Bjork's music, everything is produced very well (besides her last album). I don't Frou Frou as it's a bit too poppy though.

I adore Frou Frou. They make pop with moodiness and sincerity. I reccomend them unreservedly.
If you've seen Garden State or Shrek 2, you've already heard them.

I heard a single song with Frou Frou which was their cover of Holding Out For A Hero. I immediately knew I was hooked.
With one album released they're already one of my fave bands. You should also look up Imogen Heap, the vocalist, which has a solo album coming pretty soon. She released one song a couple of months ago as an mp3 and that's actually the first and only mp3 I ever bought.
Awesome production, awesome vocals and just bloody great songs.
For some other stuff somewhat in the same style I have to mention Mew (although less electronic), Baxter and Grand Tone Music which are some other great bands.

they had a remix contest up at acidplanet awhile back.. good vocals.. I was playing with ideas and ended up with a very light hard-disco song.. if that makes any sense..
hard beat but with airy, light vocal stabs...
probably one of my fav bits I've done with vocals.. too bad I've misplaced the samples though

One of my favorite bands!
I asked Guy Sigsworth (the producer and one half of Frou Frou) what he uses, and it's almost all custom stuff he does with Pro Tools techniques. He doesn't use any MIDI, except for live when he uses a Roland XV-5080.
They do use our samples though
What he does with Retro Funk is amazing!
They both have classical backgrounds and play very well. She's very tall and he's pretty short, which makes for an entertaining live show. She does some amazing stuff with creating her own background vocals live with a Jam Man while she's singing lead and playing Synth bass parts on a Roland Axis....awesome!

PS> Imogen's new solo record will be out soon too.

i absolutely
frou frou. guy's production is second to none in my books. as good as any of the best producers around, i can never spot a single flaw and am constantly finding new sounds in all tracks he's worked on. and imogen heap has the most beautiful voice and such a heartbreaking talent.
if you've not heard it try to listen to any of the tracks on 'details'. it's quite pop but it's so beautiful. one of my absolute favourite albums, and two of my favourite musicians.

Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I actually thought Imogen Heap was a male singer at first. My friends who recommended Frou Frou to me are all emo, and a lot of the male singers in their favorite bands sound like Imogen (Try to listen to an emo/electroclash group called The Postal Service to see what I'm talking about. When I first heard Frou Frou, I thought they had the same singer).
