Impact Soundworks releases "Shreddage 2: Absolute Electric Guitar" for Kontakt Player

11th December 2012

Impact Soundworks has released their "next-generation virtual guitar instrument" Shreddage 2: Absolute Electric Guitar. Featuring a seven-string guitar sampled in extreme depth with a custom scripted interface, this rock and metal-focused sample library, powered by Native Instruments Kontakt Player, is the sequel to Impact Soundworks' Shreddage: Electric Rhythm Guitar collection.

Shreddage 2 is designed for maximum realism and playability, incorporating a huge range of guitar techniques: sustains, powerchords, staccatos, palm mutes, portamento slides, hammer-on/pull-offs, multiple vibrato types, and neck slides, to name just a few. Combined with an intelligent scripting engine and advanced customization options, the library allows users to create virtually any rhythm or lead guitar part with ease.

Shreddage 2 does not rely on keyswitches, extensive MIDI CCs or a large bank of patches to trigger articulations. A custom scripted engine and elegant interface allow users to switch articulations on and off seamlessly, define custom velocity ranges, and tweak the instrument to their liking. Only a single patch is needed to play every articulation, and double-tracking can be activated with a second patch on the same MIDI channel.

Shreddage 2 comprises over 7,000 24-bit clean (DI) samples recorded from a Musicman JP12 7-string guitar direct through an Avalon DI box. Each articulation was sampled in extreme depth, with up to 8x round robins, down and upstrokes, and multiple variations. For example, each note has up to 5 layers of palm mutes, from very short and aggressive to half-muted, each one having its own set of round robins.

Additional features include a fretboard monitor, customizable legato, anti-repetition, multiple types of release noise, velocity scaling, built-in signal FX, per-note and per-articulation round robin, envelope controls, a preset system, monophonic and polyphonic modes.

Peavey ReValver HPse

As with its predecessor, Shreddage 2 includes a custom version of Peavey's ReValver HPse software, a high-quality virtual amp sim for Mac OS X and Windows. Besides the factory presets, Impact Soundworks has provided their own set of custom Shreddage presets for the amp sim. ReValver HPse owners are entitled to discounted upgrades to Peavey's flagship ReValver MKIII.V and ReValver HP products.

Pricing & Availability

Shreddage 2 is available exclusively at Impact Soundworks for an introductory price of $119 through the end of December, 2012, before it returns to a list price of $139. Existing Shreddage customers can upgrade anytime for $99.
