Synapse Audio has released DUNE 2, a major new version of the powerful polyphonic synthesizer that combines VA/subtractive, Wavetable and FM synthesis with an extensive modulation system, named the Differential Unison Engine (DUNE).
Compared to its predecessor, DUNE 2 introduces a number of new features and concepts, aimed at increasing both the sound quality and the versatility of the synthesizer.
The oscillator section now houses two oscillator stacks with 32 oscillators each, a third oscillator and a noise generator. With the 8x Unison feature, up to 520 oscillators can be synthesized per note. At full 16 voices of polyphony, up to 8320 oscillators can be active simultaneously.
The new zero-feedback filters mimic the behavior of analog filters better than previously. Most filter models can reach self-oscillation and feature proper resonant tuning.
Four graphical envelopes (MSEG) greatly increase the versatility of the synthesizer and allow synthesizing complex atmospheric sounds and textures.
Unison voices can be edited independently now, turning DUNE 2 into a multi-part synthesizer. This facilitates stacking different sounds and the synthesis of complex sounds.
The synthesizer output passes through two high-quality FX chains, containing EQ, Delay, Reverb, Distortion, Phaser, Chorus and Compression with various modes to choose from. Effects have more parameters than previously, and the parameters can be modulated via the modulation matrix.
Pricing & Availability
DUNE 2 can be purchased online from the Synapse Audio store for $169.00. An upgrade for existing DUNE 1 customers is available for $79.
