Mathons releases Chopitch v1.0

6th January 2005

Mathons has released Chopitch v1.0, a dynamic pitch down shifter for instruments with percussive attack. It works without latency, and without the usual harmonizer type sound artifacts. They also announced Chopan and Chopgate (see below).

Features/Uses:

Chopitch is available as a VST effect plug-in for Windows and Mac OS 9/X and costs US$30. Demo versions are available.

Chopan, set for release in February, will offer all the usual panning effects, and a whole lot more. Using Mathons' Level Independent Attack Detector (LIAD) technology the plug can synchronize to the beat, and apply spatial processing to each note, in a variety of patterns. With options for both traditional volume panning and the less common Haas effect Chopan takes an old idea and gives it a new lease of life.

Chopgate will be a Studio Gate with lower On- than Off- Threshold. Sound engineers know the problem that the Gates threshold either cuts the notes short or does not let them through. With the LIAD, you can make notes drowned in noise come through and let them ring out as far as you want.
