VB-Audio unveils VBAN-Protocol - Simple Protocol To Transport Audio On Any Local Network

12th December 2015

VB-Audio has announced the VBAN Protocol, ready for industrialization, is free to use to transport PCM Audio on IP Network. The Official Specifications Document is now on the VBAN web page and Developers / Manufacturers can start to play right now with the VBAN-Receptor open source project for Linux: github.com/quiniouben/vban_receptor

VBAN-Protocol, based on UDP protocol, can manage one or several audio streams on any kind of network infrastructure. It supports all sample rates in 16 / 24-bits PCM (and more) from 1 to 256 channels. VBAN has been made as simple as possible to cope to most of network constraints and can be used right now on domestic / regular network infra-structure, where other audio protocol could not work.

Voicemeeter implements VBAN functions to send or/and receive audio to/from other computers of a local network. Then Voicemeeter can also be used to send audio to any VBAN-Receptor. Developed like a "RADIO " transmitter / receiver system, VBAN is very simple to configure and allow to send one or several streams to one or several or even all computers of the network. Voicemeeter can be used as Audio HUB and validation tool to test VBAN implementation.
