Mix Challenge - Competitions in December 2018

The Mix Challenge competitions start off with two games this month.

The following challenges are currently open to compete in:

1. Mix Challenge #050:
   • Have a chance to work on an Alternative Country/Rock production.
   • Deadline: 21st of December.
2. Songwriting Competition #016:
   • The theme being "Winter Solstice".
   • Create a production any genre you feel like.
   • Deadline: 24th of December.

Prizes will be awarded to the Winners Podium. Among them: Acon Digital, Bjulin Waves, Ghostwave Audio, Hollow Sun, Hornet Plugins, IK Multimedia, kv331 audio, Luftrum, Metric Halo, MuTools, NOS Audio, Nyrv Systems, Rekkerd Sounds, Satyatunes Graphic and Sound Design, Tone2 and Two Notes Audio Engineering.

The Mix Challenge is also introducing a new yearly recurring Songwriting Competition, called "Community Scramble", which will be held every January. Songwriting Competition #017 (SWC #017 in short) will be the first incarnation of this special challenge.

The competition is split into two parts. The first part consists of collecting self-created sounds and samples, which are then used as basis for SWC #017. For the Songwriting Competition itself, which will be held in the follow-up month, it will only be allowed to use these samples as main sound sources. However participants can mangle this material through re-sampling, modulation, wavetable synthesis or similar. No additional instrument usage is allowed. Adding vocals being the exception. The main idea is to spark creativity with access to only a limited selection of sounds.

The rules and guidelines of the Songwriting Competition will apply. The sample collection runs until 14th December 2018.
